Bruce and Clark were working on the barbecue cooking up the Fourth of July meal before everyone had arrived. Lois and Selina were sitting on the veranda watching them and laughing as they messed up and Alfred just watched in disapproval. The first to arrive were Jason, Tim, Bernard, Steph and Cass.
"Where is Dickie bird he's usually here early?" Jason asked
"Well Kori is pregnant they are going to take their time" Cass replied
"What about the demon, he likes being early" Steph stated
"He's travelling with my son, who doesn't know how to keep track of time" Lois replied
"I so do" Jon stated flying down holding Damian
"This is so embarrassing" Damian sighed
"Aww he's being carried" Jason cooed mockingly
"Todd you have already died so technically I wouldn't be killing you if you already died" Damian spat
"So the fighting has already begun, a new record I believe we made it three seconds" Alfred sighed
"No the fighting has not yet begun Pennyworth, we are just merely exchanging bashful remarks toward each other" Damian stated
"Oh the joys Master Damian has remembered how to talk back" Alfred joked
"That would imply he forgot how, and I can assure you he hasn't" Jon laughed
"Hmm" Damian hummed staring at him before going to say hi to his father
"What has him so wound up?" Tim asked
"Nothing, it's nothing just a minor disagreement but nothing" Jon replied
"Now I actually care about this stupid annual thing, what disagreement?" Cass asked sitting up
"Nothing, that matters at the moment" Jon replied
"Hmm, at the moment so it was about the future" Cass stated intrigued
"You can't keep your mouth shut can you?" Damian asked
"What I am not going to tell them while I would like to just to show them how in the wrong you are" Jon exclaimed
"Me, wrong never happens" Damian replied getting in his face
"Is this one of those things where they get angry and in each other's faces and just start making out?" Tim asked the group quietly
"Just because you want to see it happen of the screen doesn't mean it does" Bernard replied
"Why don't you two do that if Tim wants to see it so badly" Jason joked
"Because I want to know whether it's just an onscreen troupe or something else hat happens I don't have a thing for fighting and then being romantic" Tim said half disgusted
"Are we going to let this staring contest continue" Steph asked
"I don't see Dick to calm Damian down so no" Cass replied
"Why don't one of you guys try?" Bernard asked
"Have you seen him interact with us" Jason questioned
"Yes you act like siblings while Dick acts as an almost stand in Father figure" Bernard stated
"Just hope the old man didn't hear that" Jason laughed
"He isn't wrong" Babs agreed coming up beside them
"Bernie, no offence or anything but your new to this whole family. There is a natural order just like the animal kingdom and whenever Demon Spawn is upset or testy you get Jon and if not him it's Dick then if your really grasping at straws Al or Selina" Jason stated
"Why don't you guys ever just try though" Bernard exclaimed
"Tim give it a go, maybe your boyfriend will see then" Cass said
"I hate how you always volunteer me" Tim sighed
"Go on" Steph stated
Tim got up and approached Damian but before he said anything Damian had grabbed his arm twisted it and flipped him onto the ground.
"Don't" Damian spat
"You didn't have to dislocate it" Tim screamed
"Did I not, I think I did" Damian replied
"Ugh, why are you always like this" Jon huffed walking off
"What me, he got close" Damian exclaimed before going the other way
"That escalated rather quickly" Selina sighed
"Dick couldn't have picked a worse day to be late" Steph said
"Why's that?" Dick asked
"He's in a mood and one that needs your expertise" Steph said
"Why not use Jon" Kori asked
"Because they are arguing" Jason replied
"It's probably something stupid" Cass said
"Or it's actually something, and it was the way Damian responded" Dick replied
"Woah, this is new. You are usually on Damian's side" Jason said
"Yeah, when he's fighting with us not with Jon, when he fights with Jon more often then not it's his" Dick replied
Dick went after Jon instead of Damian, he went off to the walled section of the garden where Jon was sitting at the reflecting pond as Alfred called since he sent the Bat kids out there to reflect after they made a bad decision.
"Hey kiddo" Dick stated
"Hey Dick" Jon replied
"What did he do this time" Dick asked
"Nothing, he did nothing wrong he was being completely rational I just blew it out of proportion" Jon replied
"Really, he didn't say anything wrong or use his tone" Dick questioned
"No I didn't" Damian said from atop the wall
"Damian, you shouldn't be listening in" Dick stated
"Can't help it, but I really can't believe you thought I was in the wrong" Damian spat
"Well now that you are both here, I'll let you both talk and I won't get involved" Dick said leaving
"The food is almost done" Damian stated
"Don't avoid the subject" Jon responded
"I am not, I am just not bringing it up" Damian replied
"Well we need to settle this" Jon exclaimed
"Later, I don't want to right now" Damian replied
"I'm sorry" Jon stated
"For what exactly?" Damian questioned
"Trying to force you to be more like me" Jon replied
"I said I didn't want to do this now, so I can pretend that this is resolved and we will continue this at home" Damian stated
"Then we leave now" Jon exclaimed standing
"What no" Damian replied
"Then we sort it now" Jon said
"Tt, fine. I am sorry for saying I'd do anything that makes you happy even if it is to my own discomfort and discontent because your the only thing that matters in this miserable godforsaken world" Damian stated
"Dami I don't want you to do things that make you unhappy just to make me happy" Jon exclaimed
"Well you'll find I don't care, I've been unhappy a lot more then I've been I can live with it now this conversation is over until a later date when the subject at hand is more prominent" Damian said
"Dami I don't want to be your fiancé, if you only want to get married to make me happy" Jon replied
Damian had his back turned at this stage but his eyes just shot open after hearing what Jon just said. Jon stood still staring at the back of Damian's head trying not to let any tears out of his eyes.
