What have I become?

Today is day 8,462 of hiding in this place. No one has found me yet and I like it that way. I've spent so much time hiding myself away from civilization.. I used to miss the people I once knew and I used to miss walking along those city streets. The nostalgic smell of the apple pie from the bakery and the beautiful starry sky. The longing and sadness was all I could feel. But now... I feel nothing but hatred.

Those people were the same ones who condemned me to the green ooze that made me what I am today. A freak. It wasn't even my fault! It all happened because of a stupid rumor. It wasn't true, I didn't do what they thought I did.. But it doesn't matter now.

I still vividly remember the burning sensation as the ooze slowly swallowed me up. It was pain like i'd never felt before, it wasn't a feeling like you touched something hot, no... this was different. It felt like something was burning a hole through me from the inside out. And that was only the beginning, it spread like wildfire throughout the rest of my body. I thought I was going to die, but I didn't. Even if I could've called for help no one would have listened to me.

I still feel the burning to this day, it has never left me, it's a constant reminder of what happened. I sat there for hours and hours.. I shouldn't have survived. What happened to me in that pit of green ooze, it changed me forever not just mentally but physically too.

Eventually, I passed out from the pain. I must have been there for days.  But when I finally regained consciousness, I was able to walk around and think clearly. Then I realized.. I was walking.. in the sludge without resistance. It was like it wasn't even there. I didn't feel like it was pulling me in anymore, in fact it felt like it was moving me where I wanted to go. But when I looked down... I saw that my body wasn't there and was instead replaced with a glowing green mist.

I stayed there for a while just staring at the area where my body should have been. I still don't know what happened to me while I was in that pit, but it wasn't natural. Once the shock had faded I realized I needed to get out of there and quick. Because it was starting to pull me in again. So as I tried to get out I had to fight harder and harder to get to the edge of the pit. And I made it out even if just barely, I still managed to make it out. As soon as I tried to stand my legs collapsed underneath me, I was too weak from the years I'd spent in the pit of ooze.
