You wanna know how this all started? Well then, come close, scooch in, take a blanket and do whatever else you want to.
In the Ice Kingdom, otherwise known as the Kingdom of Snow there was a little village called Chestershire.
There was an old man, named Snowstorm, who lived in the outskirts of the village.
This man and Chestershire are very important, we'll get back to them in a bit.
The capital of the Ice Kingdom was called Thralked, and the Royal Palace was right in the center of it.
In this palace, King Aspen and Queen Alaska lived with their two-year-old daughter, Princess Blizzard, and three-month-old Prince Cypress.
The Kingdom of Sand and the Ice Kingdom had been enemies for some time now, and with the arrival of Princess Blizzard and Prince Cypress, Queen Shimmer(Queen of the Sand Kingdom) had realized that both children would bring her doom.
She decided to hire an expert assassin to kill them in their sleep, and also kill King Aspen and Queen Alaska.
So she hired Viper the assassin to infiltrate the Royal Palace and kill the royal family.
It was hard work getting into Thralked itself, let alone the palace. So it was understandable when she started stressing out.
I can't do this! She thought. I CAN'T DO THIS!! Wait, calm down. Take a deep breath. She sighed. Okay, let's do this step by step, why don't we? I'm already in the city, so all I have to do for now is be stealthy and get to the palace gates.
She silently jumped over a roof, crept through an alley, and finally arrived at the palace gates. She was relieved, as little was left to do. She jumped over the gates and onto the wall. She looked at the sleeping guards and grinned. She hadn't been discovered; at least for now. She climbed down and looked at the palace garden. Now that she didn't have to be as careful right now, She realized... how extremely cold it was. And the garden.
Wow, it's pretty cold. Like, really cold. I'm freezing, not kidding. She realized. Thankfully, Queen Shimmer had remembered that and packed a Stealthy Snow Suit™.
She quickly put it on over her regular clothes and immediately felt better. She turned her attention back to the garden. Wow, it's beautiful. I haven't been to many gardens, but this one takes the prize.
It was arranged in such a way that if you looked at it from atop, it would look like, not a rainbow, but different shades of grey and light blue. Even so, it was enchanting. She ran through the garden and suddenly stopped.Wait, she told herself, guards exist. She swore in her mind. She grabbed a rope off of her backpack and climbed onto the windows. She stood as still as a statue as she surveyed the tunnels leading into the King and Queen's Chamber. She was startled out of her thoughts as she heard muffled footsteps. Panicking, she clambered to the side of the window and held herself there. Slowly, she heard footsteps receding into the dark. She sighed with relief and crept in the tower and darted up, fast as an arrow. She looked at the door. Like everything else in this palace, it was beautiful. The door was made out of thin yet strong ice bejeweled with sparkling sapphires. It was also adorned with intricate snowflake patterns. It was, most unfortunately, locked.
Viper waited for a second, trying to make sure the two rulers were asleep. She heard footsteps coming back to this end of the long passage. She turned away from the door and saw a young Arelf guard staring at her, horror plastered all over his face.
She looked at him first, then the door again.
She then sighed, putting her hands up."You got me. I'll come with you peacefully; no need to make a scene."
He sighed and let his guard down. Viper took a few steps towards him, then grinned. "Bad mistake, my friend."
Before the guard even had time to process what Viper said, she spun around and took out a small, curved dagger and slit his throat. She looked at him, twitching in pain like a grasshopper.
She almost touched his leg, to take his body away but then she stopped. She looked down at him and sighed. Sorry, bud. The Queen told me not to touch any bodies. It didn't make sense at first glance, but then you thought about it, and it did. Queen Shimmer wanted them to know, how horrible their guard system was. Still, if Queen Shimmer was smarter, she would've let them think that they've disappeared. They'll have their guard and energy down, and then we could've attacked and BAM! War over.
She blinked in surprise and shook her head, trying to dislodge the unfaithful thought. She had been traversing the Ice Kingdom for days now. Maybe all the hateful rumors had gotten to her. She stubbornly shook her head, refusing to think about it anymore.
She crouched down to examine the guard's corpse. On his waist, hung a bunch of keys. She gently slipped them off, and sped over to the door again. Maybe one of these will fit the lock, she thought. She tried one small key, with a small shing and a creeeeak, the door opened.
And in the vast room, two rulers' life came to an end.
