Ava
Friday, it is suppose to be best day of the week until you meet my classmate John. John is from an extremist conservative republican family, not that I have anything against republicans, but when they start being sexist about how women are and how they are suppose to be in the mens pockets to serve their every wish, it can be a lot to handle.
Of course the lectures I attend that involves John are on Fridays, why did I have to minor in Anthropology, Oh yea because I find studies of humanity fascinating. God I wish I could eyeroll louder.
My Professor, Professor Mosby is just going through Women and Work around the World which of course royally angers Sir John because women aren't suppose to have successful careers and the fact that I was in this class was already utter bullshit. Knowing my professor he wasn't gonna intervene since he was already busy with his computer crisis.
Look I can respect a person with opinions but when it distracts me from my education, it starts to piss me off.
Thats when the bell rings and the professor tells us that we have an assignment but has been sent through our student inbox to complete by next week, it was probably some essay to be written on Women and Work which would make sense. I packed up all my books and my old laptop and got the hell out of there before John were to corner me.
Clearly my luck today was shit because I arrived at the bus station and tripped falling on my knees and no one bothered to help the female student who had tripped because that wasn't their problem. I was fortunate enough to get on a bus and got back to my shit neighbourhood where I live in my tiny shitty studio apartment, I may cuss a lot and seem to hate it but I am grateful for my home since I knew there have been a lot of people who lost their homes during the pandemic.
However having had an interesting classmate sitting next to me during a lecture had put my patience and kindness in life right out the window.Once home I walked towards my kitchen and cooked myself a simple meal that costs overall 5 bucks, sure it wasn't the most nutritional meal ever but it was enough so that I would not pass out in the middle of the streets where I would probably be shivved and robbed from the few things that are valuables to me.
I walk over to my bag that has my laptop in it and take it out, I don't have a tv but I do have a Netflix subscription, I place the laptop on the little wobbly coffee table in front of my couch and open up Netflix putting the current show I'm currently binge watching, blacklist and can you blame me with James Spader in that masterpiece who wouldn't be obsessed, I walk back to my kitchen grabbing the plate of food and watch an episode from season 2 and peacefully to another classic tv crime.
It's been two hours of me drooling over James Spader's voice when I check my phone and realise I got a text from my lovely best friend Grace, who has been my friend since middle school.
Grace> Hey can i come over ill bring a peace offering for whatever hell happened today with Sir John
I reply.
Ava> I would honestly rather go clubbing tonight forget about society, you wanna come with?
Grace> I would love to babe but David is coming tonight to spend the night with me, you alright if you go alone, remember to call if absolutely anything happens!
David is her boyfriend....
Ava> Don't worry if anything happens you will be the first i call alright babe love ya xYes, we were the type of friends to be like a lesbian couple but that was our friendship and I wouldn't change it for a second. I absolutely adored spending time with her and even having those evenings where I third wheel her and David. David is a sweet man who clearly loves Grace for her quirkiness and that's all I could ask for, he's a lawyer at this fancy company called Kingsley Corp which I have no idea what it's about cause I don't give a crap because as long as he is taking care of my Grace, I'm okay with him.
I get up and go put my dish in the sink and start to clean up for the absolute chaos that is gonna be tonight.
I started to write a bit of my essay where I use the pandemic as an example to show how the statistics in Women and Work have suffered, and the affects it has to society.I look at the clock and it was 9pm it was time to party so I took a quick shower and grabbed my little metallic blue dress that was probably too short for society, curled my hair slightly and wore my makeup light. I grabbed my slim silver heels and a small clutch, checked the time and it was 9:25pm and practically ran to the club wanting to de-stress.
I arrive there at about 10pm where there isn't a lot of people there but it's easier to get drinks when there is less people around.
"What can i get you?" The bartender asks
"Cherry Bomb cocktail please" I quickly tap my card on the terminal to get my drink and I see people are arriving already and the music is starting up.
