THINKING about how long they would have to be on the run, Natasha and Steve stared at the floor, both not saying a word. Natasha was not new to this, but it was still difficult, especially since she had been living as a mighty hero for so long. Steve, however, had never experienced being on the run before. Yes, believe it or not, America's golden boy had never been on the run before. This was all very new to him.

It was not only the 'on the run part', but it was also the 'living together part'. They had been living together for five months now. Natasha and Steve were great friends, sure, but living together? It seemed like a huge step to take as friends, but they had to do it to survive. It was not that they did not want to live together, but it was that it was all so new and awkward. They had so much time on their hands, and yet, they never got to talking their feelings about staying together out.

Whenever they were together, they knew they felt different from when they were with their other friends. But why? Steve could not like Natasha, he had Peggy! Plus, why would he ever like her? She's a former Russian assassin... that was what Natasha thought.

"Steve," Natasha broke the stillness, which got Steve's attention. "Look, I think we have to talk."

After raising an eyebrow, Steve nodded and said, "Sure, what's up?"

Natasha laughed, "What's up? Seriously? Steve.. this is awkward on so many levels. You don't feel it? I mean, you're so new to this 'on the run' thing, and we can barely talk without making the conversation weird. We're living together to hide from the government, but to be honest, I think we're also hiding from our feelings."

Steve gulped. "Sure, it feels weird to be in this position for the first time, but it's not that bad. Our conversations aren't that awkward, are they? Hiding from our feelings? Well... what feelings do you have?"

Natasha had so many things to say, but she could not get them out of her mouth. Instead, she answered the other questions.

"I'm happy you're not that upset with being in the run for the first time, because you need to get used to it. If you feel our conversations aren't awkward, then I guess it's fine," replied Natasha, still avoiding the 'feelings question'.

"You still haven't answered my last question," Steve noticed and pointed it out. "What feelings do you have?"

Natasha took in a deep breath and said, "God, I don't know. Forget it. Forget whatever I said. Just forget it."

She stormed off and slammed the door behind her. Was she being too subtle or was he just too dumb to get it? Did she even want him to get it? Of course not! What about Peggy? Anyway, he just thought of her as a friend. It was nothing more than that. But what if she felt more than that? Gosh. Feelings really are horrible, Natasha thought. She slid down the brick wall she was leaning on, then cupped her face in her hands.

Frantic knocking on her door woke Natasha up suddenly, and she jumped. She realised she had been sleeping on the floor. She covered her forehead with her left hand that slid down to her mouth as she sighed. What did Steve want now? She had only fallen asleep for five minutes or so. She groggily turned the doorknob to see an anxious Steve.

"Nat, are you okay?"

Natasha replied, "What? Of course I am, why wouldn't I be?"

Steve answered, "You haven't come out of your room for hours, it's past dinner time."

"What? No it isn't, it isn't even dark yet! I-." Natasha stopped talking as she turned to look out the window. It was dark! She looked at her smart watch and it showed '828pm'. Her eyes widened to the size of dinner plates.

"What the heck? I only closed my eyes for one second!" Natasha protested angrily.

"You were sleeping? For so long?" Steve asked, his fearful expression replaced with a shocked one.

"Oh, shut up, at least I didn't buy a red riding hood replica."
