I smiled down at the letter, it still hurts. It won't ever stop hurting.
"Come on idiots you're so slow!" I yell back at you and your sister. You guys were fighting again, I looked back down at my phone as I paced towards the front of the school. We were supposed to go on a field trip for art club today, it was 4:30 in the afternoon and the stupid twins got into another fight, and we were lagging with the bus coming any second now.
"That's it I'm leaving you, idiots," I said as I started running instead, leaving you and K.J standing there in confusion.
"Haha, abandoned by your only friend!" K.J said in a teasing tone towards you as she ran fast to catch up with me.
"Miyu wait up!" If I could walk faster I would when I hear her call my name.
"Hey, Miyu is not my only friend!" You protested. Since that night I wasn't even your friend.
"Yeah right! Hey, Miyu do you have a secret twin only Kate knows about?" She asks sarcastically.
"I sure hope not," I said in a paranoid tone.
"Hey! That's offensive to twins!" K.J said, still loud and energetic as always.
"Yeah Miyu that's offensive-" You tried to say sarcastically but I was already out the door. I pause before entering the bus and look back at you and your sister.
"I'm offensive to everybody, idiots," I then turned on my heel and went to the bus.
We had made it to our destination after a long ride listening to you and K.J bicker until Mr. Jones, our art club supervisor, came to the back of the bus and scolded you to death. After he disappeared I started to laugh a bit at your petrified faces, Mr. Jones rarely got angry, but when he did he was scary. You and K.J along with some of our other art friends looked over at me in surprise. I stopped and plastered a frown on my face, proceeding to roll my eyes in annoyance.
"Why is it such a surprise I know how to laugh?" I groaned, then leaned back toward the window.
We got out of the bus and stared in awe at the place we were at, we knew we would be coming here but it was still beautiful nonetheless. It was a butterfly garden, we were supposed to walk around and sketch all the butterflies we could see close enough. There were multiple species, and there was no way we would be able to draw everyone, but I was determined to at least sketch as many as I could and fix it up and detail it later. We were told to separate into four groups, four people each. Of course, you and K.J just had to stick together, and I had to stick to you, so It was you, K.J, Oliver, and I. Oliver was this super pretty blonde boy, as you know, you always complained about how he has so much natural beauty it was terrible. I never really cared about beauty, well, that's what I say to people, including myself. Everybody cares about how they look, it's a terrible side effect of our society.
I spotted a Parantica Sita, one of my favorite butterflies, it was pretty up close. I pulled out my phone and took a picture slowly and silently so as not to let the butterfly fly off. I began to sketch, looking at every detail of its structure. Soon enough I realized that I should move on, and looked around to spot you guys awning over the huge koi in the pond, I sighed and walked over to you guys, the Koi were really pretty, with all kinds of different unique blotchy patterns. I tapped you on the shoulder and you looked over and nodded, motioning for Oliver and K.J to continue walking with us.
"So- Miyu, what butterflies have you spotted so far?" Oliver whispered as we passed some tourists.
"Well I saw Queen Alexandra's Birdwing- '' I said before K.J interrupted me.
"Hey are those the really big ones you talked about that one time?!" She yelled excitedly before you smacked your hand onto her mouth, the supposed to be but not really silent way of telling her to shut up.
"Yes, it is. I also saw a Cabbage white, Monarch, a Peacock Butterfly, and a Parantica Sita, those are the only ones I got a good look at though, the other ones I'm not sure of," I said, sharing my undeniable but utterly random knowledge on different butterflies. You and Oliver laughed, and K.J just looked at me with her jaw looking like it was about to drop to the center of the earth.
"You sure know a lot about butterflies Meade," Oliver said, he was quiet, and I realized I might have gotten a bit too excited and loud when I started talking about the creatures I was so seemingly interested in.
"Uh- Uhm yeah sorry I just find them really cool, apparently they're known as like the flowers of the sky or something," I said nervously, scared I had gotten too annoyed. You came up from behind and grabbed my shoulders, giving me that bright reassuring smile of yours. I gave an awkward smile back as we kept walking, a rare and comfortable silence laying in the atmosphere. We saw all kinds of butterflies, although K.J kept getting distracted by the koi fish and you kept having to grab her attention, it was really fun.
As we stepped back into the bus it was getting dark, we were all sweating from the heat and it was nice to cool off inside the air-conditioned bus. I was exhausted, still questioning how you and your sister have so much energy. I sat by you on the way back, and K.J decided to talk to Oliver some more. Eventually, I could feel myself falling asleep, by now we had cooled off and most people were sleeping, on their phones, or talking among themselves on the long drive back. I slowly leaned against you, my brain telling me over and over not to, but before I could do anything my body shut down and I was asleep.
I woke up to Mr. Jones trying to get everybody off the bus. I licked my chapped lips and looked around, I felt weird and fuzzy. I was in a different position than I had fallen asleep in.
"Goodmorning Sleepyhead," I heard an amused voice say, ''I looked up at your face, feeling blinded by your bright smile. My eyes widened and I could feel my face redden. I launched myself off of the seat and fell down. I heard laughing and looked around, you and K.J laughed at me, and Oliver was holding back, trying to be polite. I rolled my eyes and scoffed. Standing up I looked around once again and saw the others getting out of the bus. I really wanted to go home and sleep some more, so I grabbed my bag and walked out before anyone could object.
Private Message between Miyu & Kyo
"You know Miyu, you didn't have to storm out of the bus like that, you looked like you had a bit of energy for somebody who says they 'just wanna go to bed' if you know what I mean."
