He knew the beautiful emerald cove was a bad idea, but he couldn't help but feel drawn to it. It reeled him in whenever he wasn't paying attention to his steps. If he wasn't careful enough, he would end up there. He didn't want to face the wrath of his father for going. The nights were the hardest to resist going the second his head would hit the pillow, sleep would pull him in, and his body would walk on its own accord. There were too many nights he'd make it to the front door, and just as he was free to leave, a hand would pull his body back.

One night his father caught him and shook him with such a force, his eyes shot open, looking for whoever had woken him. With his eyes landing on his father, he relaxed, and confusion clouded his eyes. His father saw the look and told the boy he was sleepwalking again. The boy knew it was getting worse at night but did not know why the sleeping spell had attached to him.

Looking at his father, he asked why this was happening to him. With a sigh, the boy's father sat and gestured for his boy to sit as well. Watching as his son sat down across from him, he couldn't help but feel proud of the boy. He knew the boy would go far. Though the boy was twenty, he had more dreams than anyone he knew. The father knew that's why they called him. If they weren't careful, they would get him.

The boy watched his father think. He wanted to know why he had this draw to the cove or why the cove was a constant thought in his head.  As the boy waited, he thought of the plans he had for his life. He thought of the places he would sail to and the things sold while he was there.

The boy's father sighed and asked his son if he believed in sirens. The boy laughed at his father's words. When the laughter subsided, he looked at his father's blank face. The boy said he had heard the rumors as a boy. He did not dismiss them, but he never thought much of them.

"Calder." his father states, looking him in the eyes.

"What you have heard is true."
