Asking Alexandria

"Alex, your crazy!" My best friend Demi exclaimed, looking at me after I told her my plan.

"Please! Cut it! Cut it!" I yell exasperated. I shove the scissors toward her. She takes them with a shaky hand.

"Just cut it" I say, "Or I'll cut it!" Now yelling. She bites her lip, but picks up the first chunk of my long dark brown hair, and cuts it.

It falls to the ground. More pieces gather on the floor surrounding the chair. After what seems forever, Demi puts the scissors down.

"Down" She whispers. I Jolt up and look into the tiny mirror of my bathroom.

"Oh. My. God. I look like a guy!" I exclaim, gathering Demi into a hug. She sighs with relief.

I really did though, that was the plan. Look like a guy, act like a guy, everything. I had to if I didn't want to get caught. If I was caught, I'd never be accepted to schools, ever. It was worth the risk to go to this school. It was easily the best in the country. Too bad it was a boys only academy. I'm pretty sure I'm a girl.

My family knows what I'm doing, the actually support me. If they didn't know, I'd be found out in minutes since my good friend Nathan goes there along with my own brother, Evan. They know how hard I studied to get in. how hard I worked to pay for the expenses of even getting there. I'm a scholarship kid, there's no way my family could pay for the school tuition.

"Alex, You look like a guy" Demi breathes.

"I know!" I yell, twirling her around with me.

"Your strange" she says with a smile.

"I know, once again!" I'm excited. I could actually do this, I look like one I could almost sound like one I could probably act like one. Everything falls silent in the small room.

"I'm gonna miss you" I whisper tears pricking at my eyes. Soon I was going to be alone. Sure Nathan and Evan are at the school, but they are seniors. I'm just a junior. I would never see them unless I ate lunch with them, or room with them.

"Don't cry Alex" Demi whispered, even though she was on the verge of tears herself.

We both start to cry. "Look--At--U-Us" I say through jumbled tears while laughing. She joins me in laughing while wiping her tears.

"I cant believe your leaving tomorrow!" she says.

"Neither can I" I agree.

She was right, I was leaving tomorrow morning. Most of my things were already sent out to the school. Demi and I go into my near empty room and sit on the empty bed. It was already dark, it was almost nine o'clock. Demi had to go soon, but we didn't move.

"Demi! Your mothers here to pick you up!" My own mother yells from downstairs. When did she get home?

"Bye" Demi whispers.

"Bye, I'll every chance I get" I whisper back, tears threatening to cascade down my face once more.

"If you don't I'll have to fly all the way out to D.C.!" Demi said standing in the door frame.

"You'd fly from Washington to Washington?" I laugh, she just nods. She walks slowly down the stairs, out the door, and out of my sight. 'Probably wont see her for until winter break' I think to myself solemnly. I lay down on my bed, and just close my eyes. Before I know it, I fell asleep and I wasted the last of my time at home.
