"What do you want, Ellenwood?" Ruby asks, balancing her wallet, keys, and phone in one hand, and her coffee and files in the other as she rushes across the busy New York streets.

"There's going to be an exchange five weeks from today in Paris, I'm sending you the information now, it'll be the aftermath of the raid we did for the underground trafficking, and I'm sending the location, I just wanted to let you know in advance." He yells trying talk over the gunshots and whatever the other fucking mess he was in was going on on the other side of the line.

"What are you doing right now?" She asked, almost spilling her coffee.

Not the coffee, She thought, Anything but my coffee.

"Training the dumb as fuck interns you hired." He spat. "Where'd you pick these little bitches Goddard?"

"Up your ass."

"Hilarious." He deadpanned.

"I'll be there in like, two minutes anyways and you can had them off to me if you want." Ruby said, remembering she needed to stay on his good side too late.

"RANGE COLD!" He shouted to the interns, probably right next to one of their ears, if he trained them how he had trained Ruby's group. The gunshots stopped. "No I have a special assignment just for you, you get to train my little brother."

She frowned, stepping inside the elevator and pressing the button to take her to the basement. Finally relaxing, she took a big gulp of the coffee and sighed. Heaven.

"He just got out of college and he's been bouncing around so many different jobs, but he can't seem to keep one. I think this will be perfect for him. But he's way behind the rest of the interns, so you get to show him around, and tell him what to do, he's going to be working here, and I need you to catch him up before next week so he can keep up with everyone else, they've been here a month I need you to give him the rules, run simulations, teach him to shoot a gun."

"Why me? Why can't you do it?"

"I also don't have the time nor the patience. My schedule's full. You're a good teacher, and you aren't allowed to work full time anyways. You'll do it right. And you make me look nice."

She nodded before remembering he couldn't see her.

"Yeah, no sure. Will I be done catching him up be the time I get off this bullshit break?" She asked, stepping off of the elevator towards the shooting range.

"Yeah, no it shouldn't take more than a week, no, two weeks, give or take a few days."

"Ok hang on." She hung up walking over to where Raven Ellenwood was standing, and tapping him on the shoulder.

He turned around. His eyes were icy cold, and if looks could kill she would have frozen to death four years ago when she walked in those intimidating double doors that had the best years of her life trapped behind them. His deadly glare softened a bit when he saw her.

"I can do that. When's the meeting?" She asked.

"No, look I'm sorry Goddard, but given the circumstances-" He trailed off.

She closed her eyes slowly and inhaled deeply. Then she reached her hand up to her shoulder and pinched it.

"I'm sorry, I thought I was dreaming. What the fuck?!" She snapped.

"You think I won't do just as good as every one else in this room? I'm one of your best agents, let me do my job." She said, raising her voice.

"You're not better Goddard, you can't make yourself-"

"NO LET ME DO MY FUCKING JOB!"

But she could tell she made a mistake when she looked up at his face.

"Goddard you will do what I've instructed. Or I will not sign off on your god damn papers, and you will not work. "

Her gut wrenched, and she felt her her mouth go dry.

"Yes sir." She said setting his files down on the table next to his gun.

"My brother is in the office, please just get him and show him around. I don't have the patience to deal with him right now."

Ruby nodded and spun on her heel, swallowing her pride and leaving the room. Raven was her superior sure, but they rarely had arguments like that. They were pretty close as far as colleagues went. And then there was the accident.

Your fault. Laine whispered to her.

"I know Laine, I'm sorry." She said, stepping onto the empty elevator.

Getting off at the fourth floor, Ruby walked over to the office that Raven and everyone else in charge of missions used.

She pushed open the office door, only to immediately back away from it, and turn to lean against the wall next to the door so she could be out of reach from the man who held a gun pointed at her. Then she drew her own, taking it out and cocking it.

"Sorry! Sorry, I didn't realize anyone was going to be in here I was just looking around!" A voice said frantically, as she heard the gun being set down before the figure came rushing out of the room.

Ruby was face to face with the most intense pair of amber eyes she'd ever seen before.

"Look, I didn't mean to scare. I just saw it on the desk and was kind of..." He trailed off, looking down, and Ruby sighed, putting her gun back.

Just some idiot kid.

"You didn't scare me, but I was about to put a bullet in between your eyes. Why are you in there? Who are you?" She asked, folding her arms across her chest.

"I'm Griffin," He said, looking taken aback. "Griffin Ellenwood."

She groaned.

"You're shitting me? Great, just fucking great." She muttered, turning to walk into the office, setting her stuff down, and grabbing the gun.

"Where'd you get this?" She asked him.

"It was in one of the drawers." He said.

He had a tall, muscular build, and fluffy black hair.

"What the fuck were you looking in the drawers for?"

"Sorry, I just-"

"Not asking for an apology, asking for an answer pretty boy. Don't go fucking around in people's things like that without a reason." She snapped.

"Yes ma'am." He said looking down at her.

"Ma'am?" She scoffed. "What're are you from Texas?"

Que awkward silence.

"Yes."

"Jesus." She scoffed, shaking her head to herself.

"Okay ground rules, don't call me ma'am, don't touch shit that isn't yours, don't speak unless spoken to, don't be annoying." She said, grabbing her stuff and walking to the elevator, as he followed her.

The elevator doors opened and they stepped on, she pressed the button to take them to the basement.

"And don't you ever point a fucking gun at me again."
