The Beginning I

The cold October air kisses his face as he walks closer to the door. It's quite no sounds in the house that he lived in. As he walked through the house he felt a cool breeze down his spine that made him jump a bit. Continuing down the hall he saw the bright light coming from his grandfather's room, something he usually saw. He walked through the door and saw his grandfather's lifeless body on the bed. His hands and legs turned to stone while his eyes looked drained of life. Instantly his entire body went cold, colder than the air around him as he thought to himself how this could happen. He thought how this can happen to himself, a young kid living a great life with everything he could have ever wanted.

"I.. have to call my mom." He panicked gasping for air, reaching for his phone while still laying eyes on his grandfather's body. He quickly dialed his mother's number; and the phone began to ring.

"Treasure, what's going on?" She said in a soft voice.

"Mom... he's gone. He's dead!" Treasure screamed out to his mother in a shaky voice. He saw her mood instantly change. The slight smile into a stone cold face with almost no emotion. Tears began to roll down Treasures face. His world began to turn dark with no sign of help coming for a mile. The cold feel of Treasure's grandfather's hand didn't have the same feel as earlier that morning.

"Mom. What do we do now? He was my best friend. He wanted to take me to.. To so many places I haven't been. And now he's gone!" Treasure wailed and screamed.

"Ain't nothing gonna be the same no more mom. He's gone and ain't nothing I can do no more!"

"Treasure.. Baby, everything will be ok in due time. Just give it some time."

"I can't no more mom I can't keep losin' people."

The Great Divide

The warm summer breeze graced Treasures lovely skin that looked like fresh coca beans. The sunny day without a cloud in the sky. Trees scattered the very Campus that he sat in. People with bookbags and projects walking peacefully. He looked up into the sky as if he didn't have a worry in the world. People passing by looking, staring at him, looking at him. He couldn't help but think to himself what they thought about his actions. About the way that he was entertaining himself for the time being.

"Hey Treasure, why are you.. sitting there like that?" She questioned in a soft smooth voice almost like his mothers.

"Nothin'.. I'm just.. thinkin' to myself."  Treasure depressingly said in a deep gravely voice.

"I was just checking on you because you seemed sad I have class but I will talk to you later. Stay safe, alright." Just like that she was gone; few spoken words. She always talked to Treasure almost everyday. He loves the sound of her voice, and the way she speaks to him. Her words were poetry to Treasures ears, just the ability to talk to her made him feel warm inside. He never did remember her name. She had long black braided hair with skin the same color as caramel, and eyes the same color as a freshly baked brownie. She always had a slight smile on her face while talking to Treasure.

The sky turns a very somber orange as the sun began to set. The cool breeze turning cooler and cooler as the day continues to pass. Hours go by and Treasure is still sitting on the same bench he started his day on.

"Hey Treasure!" She yelled with in smooth tone.

          "Wussup!" Treasure yelled back.

"What's going on? You have been sittin' here this whole day, let's go do somethin'." She said with excitement.

"You know, ahh.. I actually don't remember your name, and I don't really know you like that to begin with." Treasure presented trying to  get out of the situation she put him in.

"You're giving me excuses, you know you want to do somethin'. You were sittin' here this whole day doin' nothin'. "

"I.. I just don't wanna move from here; I like it here. Why don't you sit down and relax a bit ya know?" She takes a seat right next to Treasure and makes herself comfortable. She turns and looks him in his eyes then instantly looks away and smiles to herself.

"My name is Jasmin, you better remember that." Jasmin said making a stank face.

"I'll remember that, you don't have to worry."

"You know you don't have to hold back anything from me right? I can be your friend."

"Listen, I don't know much about you and you don't know much about me. I just remembered your name. Give me some time to open up to you. I need to see your intentions, feel your vibes, ya know."

"I understand that, I usually don't open up to people often as well. Ya know I always wanted to have a full conversation with you but I never knew how to start it."

"You sound crazy, I always see you talking to other guys, fuck I see you with a different guy everyday!"

"What's that supposed to mean?" Jasmin asked shielding herself away from Treasure.

"I didn't mean it like that, I wasn't trying to say you are a ho or anythin'."

"Honestly it seemed like that at firs, I know I hang out with a lot of guys. I've always had daddy issues, I didn't grow up with a father in the house. Now I just talk to guys to make up for lost time."

"I'm not going to be the next dude that you talk to. It's either we really gonna be friends or I don't want any part of it." Treasure said in a serious tone.

"I get that" Jasmin said. On her face Treasure knew that she understood everything he said. The sun set passed the horizon as the sky turned a dark blue, and the street lights came on.

"Can I have your number?" Jasmin asked in a higher pitch than usual, while holding her phone out to him.

"Ahhh... sure." Treasure said putting his number into her phone.

"I'll text you when I get back to my dorm. Aight?"

"Yeah aight." Treasure said with no expression. Jasmine turned around and walked back in the direction of her dorm room.
