act I, scene I: the beginning

finn meyer, in short, was boring. he was not exactly what one would call the life of the party, and possessed this information as well, though never felt the need to act on it, simply because it was too much work.

is he considered as lazy? maybe so, but whatever gets the work done.

on the flip side, finn goes to seagrove high school, and has no friends--well he does, but they may view him as an inconvenience rather than a companion. because he has "no friends", he usually doesn't have anywhere to be after school, so he sleeps.

and he sleeps.

until it's maybe around 8pm. then he starts him homework and stays up until 3am, because boy, does homework take a while--especially when you have the attention span of a three year old. this just shows how eventful the boy's life is.

it was just recently when finn decided to take action on this, and pull his life together; basically, make friends. but, the biggest problem in our generation is just HOW to make friends. do you hold up a sign that says hello, can you please be my friend? no, that's creepy. do you create a document that lists your most desirable traits? no, that's too much work, and frankly not so orthodox itself.

and so, a troubled finn took his problem directly to a counselor. what did this counselor say? well, the counselor, mr. ramirez, said these magical words: "go to the student council".

that same troubled finn, confused as he was, walked home on that rainy day after school, and thought about his counselor's advice. would i go to the student council?, he thought, in a stupor. decision-making really was a tough thing to do.

a, now even more confused, finn decided to talk to his mother about making friends, and how it all works. the poor soul was frightened.

"mom, i have a question." he leaded with.

"yeah, what's up?" his mother replied.

"i want to make friends, but i don't know how to."

"well, it's easy, isn't it? you find someone with common interests."

"how do i do that?"

"join clubs, hangout places, maybe break out of that set routine that you have."

"that's what mr. ramirez said, but with student council."

"try it out, you might really like it!"

"possibly. thanks mom, and what are we having for dinner?" finn added in sweetly.

"your father, if he DOESN'T GET OFF THAT COMPUTER!" mrs. meyer yelled.

"ahh, sweetie, i'm sorry! truly, i am. but i will come in a few minutes." mr. meyer responded, fearful for his life.

that, in a nutshell, was finn's home-life. as generic as they come, but filled with love.

it was said that finn was their parent's miracle child, the only one that survived, that's why they both loved him so much, though parents should not reduce their amount of love per child.

nevertheless, finn's parents always encouraged him to make friends, but never pressured him into the idea, because what's worse than having no friends? having friends that you don't like.

since the many around him have told him student council is a good idea, finn went for it, though was hesitant. it's not that he lived in ignorance, he has heard about the student council, and what they do; they help with the seagrove fairs, help with decisions made for the whole school, plus, it's apparently really fun for everyone.

when the day finally came for submitting applications for spots for the student council, finn worked very hard to make himself seem approachable and responsible (basically everything he wasn't), which seemed to work for other previous members, and he wondered if it would work for him.

yes, he was nervous while anticipating his admission to the student council, but he also knew that if he doesn't get it, it would be fine as well. for he can sign up for any other club, and it would be ok.

the day was finally here.

the day when results were going to be posted.

finn, amidst the crowd of people, struggled to see the white paper that was stapled onto  a cork board outside the student council room.

when he finally got to see the paper, he was shocked to see the result: "treasurer: finn meyer".
