Look, I'm really sorry for the super late update. And I'm especially sorry to dammitnotanothership because I said it would take a shorter amount of time. I dunno, I kinda hit a writer's block with this chapter, but I should have gotten this done wayyyyy faster. This chapter is also kind of short, so sorry for that too.

A Few Days Later

"Look, um, I was wondering if you were still gonna move..." Dean scratched the back of his neck. He was worried that Cas was still going to up and leave him, and that was something that Dean couldn't really handle at the moment.

Cas rolled his eyes before smiling at Dean. "No, Dean, I'm not. I'm going to stay in town."

Dean let go of the breath he had been holding, shoulders sagging with relief. He leaned forward, pressing his mouth against Cas' in a brief kiss. "Thank God," he muttered against Cas' lips. "But all those people... Don't they deserve the help more than me?"

"No. You are important. And I hope I can help you to see that."

The two sat in a café, middle of town, a few days after the incident. Cas had a protective glare in his eyes that just maybe turned Dean on in the slightest, but hey, he was allowed to now, wasn't he?

"So, Cas, are you my boyfriend now?" he asked, somewhat cheekily.

"I sure as hell hope so," Cas ground out. The smile on Dean's face grew.

"Sup Dean, what can I get you guys?" A familiar voice sounded from behind them. Dean turned in his chair.

        "Jo?"

Jo laughed, blonde hair swinging as she walked up to Cas and Dean's table. She wore the uniform of the coffee shop, which was interesting because Dean had had no idea that Jo had started working here. "Yeah, I know what you're thinking. Mom moved back into town, just yesterday actually, and so this is my new job."

        "Is Ellen still homeschooling you?"

"Sometimes. I've been taking online classes too. Anyways, who is this?" Jo nodded towards Cas with an approving once-over.

"This is Cas, he's my boyfriend," Dean introduced. "Cas, this is my pseudo-little sister Joanna."

"Nice to meet you, Jo," Cas said.

"Manners, nice. Could teach your boyfriend a few tips then."

        "Hey!" Dean scowled.

Jo and Cas exchanged a look and laughed. Chuckling, still, Jo asked, "You been good, though, Dean?"

Dean swallowed. No, no, he couldn't answer that question. It didn't matter that he was doing better now. It didn't matter that Cas knew and Sammy knew, no, because Dean just couldn't say the truth. He sent Cas a help me glance.

Cas understood at once. "Yeah, we've been alright," he lied smoothly. Changing the subject quickly, he added, "But I did just remember that we have to pick up Sam. Dean, we should probably go."

Jo frowned a little, but then smiled again. "Okay, well, I hope to see you too in here again. Say hi to the Sasquatch for me!"

Once outside, Dean whispered a relieved, "thanks."

"Dean," Cas bumped their arms together lightly. "It's okay. You don't have to thank me. And you will get there. Someday you'll be able to talk about it, open up."

        "I just can't, Cas."

"Not yet. But I believe in you. And I'll help you."

They reached the car and Dean climbed into Baby's driver's seat, whilst Cas stepped in to sit shotgun. And when Dean's hand reached over to grab Cas' for reassurance, not a word was said.

They did indeed have to pick Sam up from school, so at three Dean parked his car alongside the road to wait for the younger Winchester. The air surrounding Dean was lighter by then, and he chuckled with Cas as Sam made a face, seeing Cas in the front seat.

        "Cas, shotgun is my spot!"

"Shove it, Sammy," Dean said, amused. "Dating me has to have some privileges," he added, nudging Cas, who rolled his eyes in response.

"Wait - when did this happen?"

"Four score and seven years ago-"

        "Dean."

        "Four days ago. Sheesh."

Cas shrugged. "Well, it would have been easier to just say the day with the thunderstorm. Your Lincoln imitation skills are terrible. It's definitely not one of your better qualities."

        "Rude."

"Oh, so that day," Sam eyed Dean suspiciously. He knew that Dean's depression had probably spiked that time, and wanted to know just what happened, but let it go for the meantime. "I was wondering why you were gone so long."

"This is why," Cas said, and grabbed Dean and kissed him hard on the mouth. Dean hummed in response.

"Guys? GUYS!" Sam yelled until they let go of each other. "I'm all for you two, believe me, but I don't really need to watch you guys make out."

Dean sighed. "See, it's cockblocking like this that is the reason you find itching powder in your clothes."

"That was you? I thought that was Gabe!"

"Hm... Gabe again? How would he have gotten hands on your clothes, Sam, hm?" Dean narrowed his eyes.

"Nope. I'm not talking about this." Sam crossed his arms defensively.

"Well then, I guess you're gonna have to watch us until we get an answer!" Dean tugged Cas in again.

"Oh, come on! All I want to do is get home to finish my damn homework! Is that too much to ask?" Sam groaned. "Maybe I should just ask Charlie for a ride..."

So there we go. I promise the next update won't take so long. And don't forget to vote, comment, and even if you have any ideas for a filler chapter, don't be shy in letting me know.
