“Ella, I think I’m in love with you.” He said coming closer to her face. Ella quickly backed away and shot her head to the ground. “Ella, please listen to me.” he said lifting her chin up. “This is insane. You can’t like me, Why, why would you ever like me? This isn’t supposed to happen. I’m supposed to have a hopeless crush on you, you’ll never find out and I’ll spend the rest of my life in misery! You’re messing up the whole thing!” She said trying to force herself not to look at him. He chuckled and just smiled at her, he was falling more and more in love with her already. “10 MINUTES!” the teacher called. Ella and Matt both looked at the teacher and then at each other. “I have to go.” she said pulling away from Matt. “Wait, please tell me you’re okay with this. I don’t want you to go on your trip feeling all weird and stuff.” he said grabbing her arm. “I’m fine, but I really have to go.” she said tugging away and heading over to her friends. “Here, give me your phone. I know I won’t be able to see you, but I can at least listen to you.” He puts his number in Ella’s phone and then vice versa. “LET’S GO EVERYONE!” the teacher yelled, signaling the kids towards the door to get on the plane. “Bye Ella.” Matt said letting her go. Ella walked away and found her group of friends in the crowd of students.
“What was that all about?” Victoria asked, “Yeah, that was really weird.” Elizabeth added. “It was Matt.” Ella answered. “What?! What was he doing here?” Kaitlyn said. “He told me he loved me and then gave me his number.” Ella said in a quiet voice. “Aww!!! That’s adorable!” Victoria squealed. “Matt said that? Wow, I’m surprised.” Kaitlyn said. “Yeah it doesn’t seem like him at all.” Elizabeth added. “I’m still trying to process what just happened. But, whatever. Let’s just get on this plane and forget our troubles.” Ella said picking up her carryon bag and walking towards the plane door.
All the girls sat across from each other on the plane taking selfies, talking up a storm and trying to calm their nerves since it had been a while since they had been on a plane. In just a few short hours these best friends would be on their way to England, France and Amsterdam. While Victoria, Elizabeth and Kaitlyn were still talking up a storm, Ella put her headphones in and turned the volume all the way up to drown out the chattering, her mind kept going from Matt, to Europe and then back to Matt. Why now? Why would Matt all of a sudden tell Ella how he feels. Matt was never the kind of guy to confess how he felt. These two have been friends since middle school and it was already weird enough to have Ella like one of her good friends, but then for him to like her back was just unheard of him Ella’s mind. She was always the girl who liked the guys but they never liked her back. Matt was not only a good friend to her, but the first guy to express how he feels about her and be comfortable with it. Ella finally dozed off and hoped once she got to England Matt would be the last thing on her mind.
