The Stone Cold Bender *ATLA Fanfic*

*Chapter 14*Waterfall*

I only got a few hours of sleep, before being awoken by Chip. Aang and Sokka had been captured by the pirates and seem to be getting traded to Zuko for the waterbending scroll. The longer I sit tied to the tree, the more the rope rubs against my skin, causing it to sting.

"Nice work." Zuko congratulates the pirates. 'The hot headed prince can be nice?' I think in disbelieve. 'First flirting, now being nice. What happened when I was gone?' I question, having an existential crisis. 

Zuko walks towards the pirates, holding the waterbending scroll. 

"Aang, this is my fault." Katara says, feeling guilty. 

"No, Katara, it isn't." He tries to reassure him. Only for Iroh to speak up from beside the waterbender. "Yeah, it kind of is." I send him an amused smile. 

"Give me the boy." Zuko's strict tone draws my attention to him. 

"You give us the scroll." The pirate captain counters. 

"Give me some cake." I inject with a lopsided grin. Iroh turns to me, a mixture of playfulness and mischief in his voice. "I'll get you cake, though you must share with me and Chip." The mentioned bird chirps in agreement. 

The pirates and Zuko ignore Iroh and I, instead turning to Sokka as he speaks. "You're really gonna hand over the Avatar for a stupid piece of parchment?" He questions. 

"Sokka, what are you doing?" I hiss, as much as don't want Aang to fall into Zuko's hands, but I'd rather not have the pirates have him. 

"Don't listen to him." Zuko states, an edge to his tone. "He's trying to turn us against each other."

The captain turns to Sokka, and questions. "Your friend is the Avatar?" He then turns to Aang as Sokka replies cheerfully. "Sure is. And I'll bet he'll fetch a lot more on the black market then that fancy scroll."

"Shut your mouth, you water tribe peasant!" Zuko orders. 

"Yeah, Sokka, you should shut up." I hiss, glaring at the male. Aang sends a warry glance towards Katara and I. 

"I'm just saying," Sokka replies nonchalant. "It's bad business sense. Just imagine how much the Fire Lord would pay for the Avatar. You guys would be set for life." He smirks. 

"Keep the scroll." The captain orders, pointing to Zuko. "We can buy 100 with the reward we'll get for the kid." The pirates start walking off with Aang and Sokka.

"You'll regret breaking a deal with me. " Zuko and two of his men shot fire at the pirates. And that is when the once calm trade turned into a fight. Zuko and his men trying to get Aang and the pirates trying to stop them. 

"Chip, mind helping here?" I ask the bird. He looks at me from Iroh's shoulder before puffing out his feathers. "Come on, I'll buy you a treat." I plead. He perks up before flying over and behind my tree. It takes a moment, but eventually the rope falls from my wrists. I rub my wrists to relive the slight stinging. 

Sadly, I had left my fans in my satchel on Appa's saddle. At with the smoke, I can't see to earthbend without hitting someone by accident. 

Soon Momo frees Katara and she joints the fry. 

I panic, not knowing what to do I stand off to the side. That stops when the trio I'm with emerges from the fog and start trying to push the pirates' ship more into the river. 

"Come on Chip." I mutter as I run over to them, Chip lands on my shoulder. "I don't think we'll be able to push this by ourselves." I say. 

"Unless," Aang pauses. "unless, we waterbend." He turns to Katara with a smile. They pull and push the water until the ship starts floating in the river. "Everyone in." Katara orders. We all climb onto the ship and start sailing away. 

"Sokka, can't you make it go any faster?" Aang asks as the pirates chase us on Zuko's small ship. 

Sokka who is at the stirring wheel, response. "I don't know how. This thing wasn't made by the watertribe." As the metal ships catches up to us, several pirates jump onto the ship we stole. 

Aang and Katara use waterbending to deal with then. The latter finally getting the water whip move. 

"Will you two quit congratulating each other and help me out?" Sokka pleads, two of the pirates wrestling with him. 

"I gotchu!" I run over to him and sweep the legs of the scrawnier of the two pirates. I kick him over the side of the ship and into the water. The bigger of them throw Sokka to the side, Aang then jumps down and airbends the man into the river. 

"Guys, look!" Katara shouts, pointing ahead of us. I look to see that the ship is nearing a waterfall. 

"Oh, no!" 

The last pirates on the stolen ship, raises his sword to attack Aang. The airbender pulls a bison shapes whistle from... from, ugh. I honestly don't know. But anyway, he blows on the whistle only for no sound to come out. 

Sokka kicks the confused pirate overboard. "Have you lost your mind?" He questions. "This is no time for flute practice!" 

"Come on, we need to get out of here!" I shout annoyed. "I'd rather not die!" 

'-again... I need to stop making this joke.'

Aang and Katara start to 'push and pull' the water, and while it's kind of working, we are still going to go over the waterfall. 

"We're doing it!" Katara exclaims. 

Sokka then points to the other ship. "But we have another problem." He states. The ship rams into us, pushing us over the waterfall. 

"Here we go again." I mutter, waiting for my impending doom. Katara gripping my hand tightly and Chip digging his claws into my skin. 'Bitch, you can fly.'

Their screaming and the water drown out everything. Thankfully we land on the fluffy fur of Appa. I, very grateful, hug Appa's soft fur. "THANK YOU!" I cry, mock tears streaming down my face. I only stop when Chip starts poking my face harshly. "Okay, okay. I'll stop." I pout, the gaang laughing at the interaction.
