I never minded putting on a dress, and dressing to impress, but I most defiantly hate the heel my father makes me wear along with my outfits. Today it was a darkish blue, mid thigh flower pattern dress with a brown belt on the upper stomach, and of course my black, inch heels that I deeply wish I could burn.
I walked downstaird to the kitchen and was stopped by my mom at the middle of the stairs. "Is something wrong mom?"
She fixed up my hair and straightened my dress, "Just want to make sure you look good, you have a 'special" guest joining us." She laughed.
"Very funny mom."
My dad started coming down slowly. "You ladies are looking well. Shall we?"
We followed my dad outside and before I hopped in with my parents, I saw Alex's jeep roll by. She actually came! She stepped out wearing black skinnies, a white dress shirt with a black tie, a black perfectly fitted blazer, with her black and white converse that had purple laces. She smiled at me and walked over to the car. "Mr and Mrs Vern, very nice to see you. "
"Hello Alex." My mom happily gave have her a hug.
"Alex. " My father nodded his head, glaring her up and down.
I smiled at her and she smiled back. I turned to my parents. "Is it okay if I ride with Alex."
"Go ahead honey, you guys can follow. " My mother tapped my shoulder gently, motioning me to go.
Alex did her usual: opened the passenger door for me, got in, and started the engine. She waited for my parents to back out of the driveway and drive off. She wasn't driving her usual way. She was driving proper, almost like a grandmother and I couldn't help but laugh. I took a hold of her right hand as her left was placed firmly on the the top middle part of the steering wheel.
As we arrived, she rushed to open the door for me. We walked up to the car and she did the same with my mother, jackpot, she was officially on my mother good side just for doing that. She soon helped my dad carry some things inside, but all my dad did was nod his head. Minutes after we arrived, people started showing up. We sat were we always sit, up front.
As service started, and my dad walked up to the podium, Alex eyes widen a bit, "Your dads the preacher?" I nodded, noticing the fear in her eyes.
My dad began talking, "Thank you everyone for coming. I see a lot of wonderful faces out there," he's voice was loud, like always, he never needed a mic with his big mouth, "so today, I wanted to address something that's been impacting this world quiet a bit," he glance at me, then quickly at Alex, "now we all know love is a very important to all of us. We love our children, we love our house, we, sometimes, love our jobs, and mostly we love our lovers. But, some of us never pick what's right when it come to love, we never listen to God's word when it comes to love," my heart started slowly racing as I noticed where my dad was taking this, "love is a beautiful thing between a man and a women. And that is it, isn't it. Love is between a man and a women. But to some, they want to change the ways and think that love can be between the same sex," my heart speeded up, my mom reached for my hand, tightly squishing it, I took a glance at Alex, who seemed perfectly calm, "some will say the dumbest of thing, like, 'if God hates gays, why'd he make me so cute', or 'Adam and Steve' , but they never understand. They think its right. But it's not. Love is strictly between a man and a women and that is that," from the corner of my eye, I could seen Alex's hand change into fist, "God doesn't hate you, but does truly dislike your options you make, the option to commit adultry with the same sex, the option to be seen in public with the Same sex, but most important, the option to change your appreance. A women should have the appeance of a women, as should a man. If you weren't born to be the oppiste sex, don't start looking like them. God's word," Alex fist got tighter to where you could see her veins, my mom had noticed as well as she gave me a look of sadness, "it is a shame," right that moment alex got up and walked towards the exit, not daring to look back. My mom let go of my hand letting me go follow, and so I did.
"Alex!" She didn't stop, "ALEX!" I finally caught up with her, grabbing her hand to pull her my way. "Alex I'm sorry, I didn't think that would happen. " she stayed silent looking at the ground. "Talk to me, look at me, please. I'm sorry. " she mubbled, "what did you say?"
"I told you," she looked up, small tears being held in her eyes, "I told you, me and Christians don't mix because of that reason exactly." One tear fell out and she caught it, turning around quickly to whip her eyes.
"Alex, Alex I'm sorry. I shouldn't have made you come I'm sorry. " I wrapped my arms around her, hugging her tightly from behind.
I felt her fingers intertwine with mine. "Its okay," she sniffles, "I think I'm just gonna go. "
"Can I come?" She turned around, her cheeks red.
"Won't they be mad?"
"My dad, probably. My mom, not at all. " I ran to her grabing her hand and began to walk to the Jeep.

It took us almost two to three hours to get to our destination. Alex drove all the way out of town, to this open field that stretched out for miles.
Alex turned off the car, uncliped her seat belt, and stared off to the distance. I turned her way, "Alex, why are we here? What is this place?"
"This is where I used to come to calm myself, to, find myself," she took a deep breath, "this is where my grandfather found me the night I ran away four years ago." Her face turned sad, her eyes looking straight ahead, and no where else.
I unclipped my seat belt, leaning my head against the window, "I'm sorry," my eyes watered, "I'm just so sorry, this is all my fault." Tears rapidly came down.
Alex jumped out of the car, running to the passenger door taking me out slowly and holding me tightly in her arms, "you did nothing wrong sweetheart " she kissed the top of my head, "some Christans and dykes just never get alone."

Alex pulled up to my house, I was dead. It was practically midnight by the time we headed back. She opened the passenger door, letting me out.
She pulled me into a hug, and I held her tightly. I looked a bit up, into her eyes. She slowly leaned in, and pulled me into a deep kiss. I slolwly pulled back, resting my forehead on hers. I looked her deep in her eyes, I couldn't stop the words from slipping out, I couldn't stop them, "Alex,"
"Yes?" She didn't lose eye contact.
I couldn't hold them back anymore, they were coming out and I couldn't do anything about it, "I love you."
