The next morning Ava's mom and uncle beat Ava to her condo complex. By the time Ava got up and hurried back to her place her front door was wide open and many men and woman dressed in blue suits were inspecting everything.

"Ava!" Her mom called from Maya's room. Ava couldn't keep her tears away when she saw her mom in a total wreck as well. "Mom I'm so sorry! I was gone for thirty minutes that's all!" She sobbed.

"I know, I know." Her mom whispered in Ava's ear.

"Delia- who are you-" Ava's uncle stopped his sentence when he saw Ava's mom, Delia, hugging her.

"Oh hi Ava, how are you?" He asked in a more louder tone. Ava wiped her eyes and smiled a little, "ok."

"They haven't found anything yet Ava, but they need your key to your room to check there too." Her uncle told her.

"Of course-" Ava answered, already racing to the kitchen cabinet. She picked it up and stared at the key for a second, then at her door. She hadn't been in her room once since the incident. It was locked, Maya wouldn't be in there? Yet- Maya knew the key was in the cabinet. It was almost silly to Ava that she didn't even think to check her own room.

Ava scooted over to her bed room door, a little hesitant about opening it now.

She gulped, and set her key in the lock, about to turn it until a detective ran up from behind her and wrapped her hand around Ava's arm. "Wait!" The woman yelled. Her red rain held back in a clip- seemed a little unprofessional to Ava.

"What?" Ava snarled, a little agitated. She pulled away from the woman's long boney fingers and noticed her arm was now had a red mark on it.

"The door, it hasn't been dusted for prints, neither has the key or door knob, you need to wear gloves. She huffed, pulling a pair of dentist gloves from her back pocket.

Ava took them willingly and once she got the cue it was fine to unlock it, a bunch of tech officials jumped in front of her and opened the door themselves, all shouting sorry and that they just wanted to keep her safe.

Ava almost fell over from all the commotion, they all dashed into the quite crammed and organized bedroom.

They all got to work quickly and soon the doorway was accessible. Ava stepped inside and studied her room as if she herself was her father. Trying to be all science-y and technical. But it wasn't working.

The day went by slow and dry. The time had finally come when the detectives who were now in charge of Maya's disappearance came to Ava's apartment to get the statement of where she had been and when the time frame ended and started.

No evidence of anything was found. The tech lab didn't do a very good sweep with Ava's room only because it was locked during the time frame Maya went missing.

Still, all the fibers they were finding were dead ends and every finger print the recovered was either mine or Maya's.

It soon came to the point where the woman who had grabbed Ava's arm earlier dauntingly gave the news Ava, her mom, and her uncle were trying to avoid.

"All the clues point to her somehow leaving through the front door undetected and fleeing the city. We reached out to all airports and subway stations to not allow your sister to get on so hopefully we can find her that way. So right now, for how much I truly wish we could do more, this is as far as we go for these cases and just hope for the best. My people are wrapping up and are tired so, if you need or find something please- don't hesitate to call. " She handed us her card with her name on it and a picture of her.

"I'm so sorry we can't be more help." She added, turning around and swiftly calling for all 'her' tech agents to wrap it up.

Delia didn't make any effort to hold back the tears, Ava's uncle patted her back and tried to calm her down. Ava just starred at the card the woman had given her.
