Percy placed the red rose in front of the gravestone. "Happy birthday mum." Percy said and stood up. He's tall and athletic, with tan skin that showed that he spent time in the sun. Percy pulled a hand through his messy, raven-black hair and stared at the plain gravestone with his seagreen eyes. Eyes that one time was filled with happiness and joy, were now dull and held little happiness. "I wish you were here." Percy said. "Only two months left mum. Then I graduate, I wish you could see it. Then I can finally leave. Leave Gabe, Leave town. Get a job." Percy made a sad smile and placed his hand on the stone. "Sleep well mum." He said and walked away, out from the cemetery.

Like every other day, the streets of New York was busy. People filled the sidewalks, and yellow cabs were seen driving up and down the streets. Percy made his way down the streets towards one of the few places on earth that could be called hell. The apartment he once shared with his mother, that he at the moment shared with the pig of a stepfather he had. When he had the apartment i sight, Percy couldn't help to feel a strange feeling in his gut. Like something was going to happen. He climbed the stairs carefully and took a deep breath before he opened the door with his keys. He closed the door carefully behind him and scanned the room. No Gabe insight. He walked carefully towards his room, carefully not to trip on any of the beer bottles on the floor. He made it through the living room and was almost at the door. "Punk!" A voice yelled. Percy froze on the spot and turned around.  A man that could have been mistaken for a hippo, stumbled his way over to Percy. The man was bald and wore dirty and stained sweatpants and a shirt. Percy could smell the alcohol on him. He was drunk. "Hand over my money!" He said. Percy shook his head. "I don't have any." He said. He felt it before he saw it. A punch to his jaw. Percy stumbled backwards but stood up straight. "Liar!" Gabe yelled. "Hand it over brat!" Trying to avoid more conflict, Percy fished up a 5 note from his pocket and gave it to Gabe. "That's it?" Gabe hissed and glared at Percy. "Where is the rest?" "There is no rest." Percy spotted back. Gabe grabbed his shoulders and slammed him into the wall. Percy's head hit the wall hard, and black spots filled his vision. "You little brat!" Gabe yelled and hit him on the ribs. Percy bundled over, gasping for air. His ribs hurt bad. "I should have kicked you out long ago! And now you refuse to return my money! Get your bag! Get out! Don't return!" Gabe pushed Percy away. Percy stumbled a bit before he regained his footing. "Fine." Percy hissed. "Anywhere is better than here." With that, he hurried into his room and found a bag and started packing. It didn't take long.

Percy didn't own much. Just a couple of spare clothes, a blue blanket, a small box with money he had managed to save away from Gabe, his school supplies and a picture of him and his mom on Percy's 7 birthday. Bot of them smiling with a tray of blue cookies in front of them. Percy smiled a bit at the memory. "Hurry up brat!" He heard Gabe yell. "Get out of my house!" "It's an apartment, idiot." Percy mumbled. He zipped close his bag and slung it over his shoulder. He walked out of his old room and met Gabe in the living room. "Get out!" Gabe hissed and pointed a fat finger at the door. Percy walked over to the door and placed his hand on the doorknob. Percy may not want to live with Gabe, that abusive bastard. But it was the apartment he grew up in with his mum. There were some happy memories from it. He sighed and opened the door. And became startled. On the other side of the door, about to knock, was a girl with blond hair and stormy grey eyes. She looked to be his age. The girl came over the shock of the door. "I am looking for Sally Jackson." She said. "Tray the closest cemetery." Percy said and started walking past the girl. "She died three months ago." "Hey wait!" The girl said and ran after Percy. "Do you live here?" She asked. "Not anymore." Percy said and stopped to look at her. "Can I help you with something?" He asked. "My name is Annabeth Chase. I am here on behalf of my boss." She said. "He asked me to find Sally and bring her to him." Percy turned away. "Yeah, well you are a bit too late." He said and started walking again. The girl, Annabeth, hurried along and walked next to him. "What is your name, and what relations did you have to her?" She asked. "My name is Percy, and she was my mother." Percy answered coldly. "Any siblings?" She asked. Percy stopped and glared at her. "Is this an interrogation?" He asked. Annabeth took a small step back. Startled by the sudden question. "No, but I wish for you to follow me to meet my boss." "Yeah, no thanks." Percy said. "Please." Annabeth begged. "Just one meeting. Just to talk!" "Why?" Percy asked and crossed his arms. "Why does somebody want to talk to me." Annabeth looked confused at him. "You mean you don't know?" She asked. "Know what?" Percy asked. "Who your boss is, then no." Annabeth thought for a second. "He knew your mother from a while back. I will let him tell you." She said. Percy looked questionable at her. "Just a talk?" He asked. Annabeth nodded. "Just a talk." She agreed. "Fine." Percy said. He followed her outside.
