MUTANTS - Mutants Rise

DAN
The next day, it was clear we needed to upgrade the fence, there were holes and gapes in it. So we grabbed some plywood from Dad's shed. We were told that the oldest from youngest will go, in two partners so it's safer.

Me and Mason were twins so we went together, we had shot guns strapped to our backs, ready if we needed to use them, "Dan, hand me the hammer, would ya?" Mason asked, "Sure thing." I said, grabbing the hammer, then passing it over to him.

He thanked me, "No problem," I said, "Need me for anything else?" I asked, we only had one hammer so we would take it in turns, "Uh, woah." Mason, said, looking at all the holes in the side of the fence, "We might need a bit more wood, would you go get it?" He asked, "Sure." I answered walking off.

Skye and Jessica were on plant duty so they were watering all the trees and plants and crops. As I walked past them to get to the shed I heard them squabbling, "Well, maybe if you didn't hate me so much, you'd realise how much of a jerk you've been to me and everyone!" Jessica hissed.

"Well, maybe if you weren't as dumb, and you were more useful you'd be an actual pleasing sight." Skye protested, Jessica stood back, obviously hurt. And walked over to the other side of the crops and started watering them.

Skye sighed, realising what she'd done, "Hey, Skye--" I started, "Just stop! Ok? JUST LEAVE ME ALONE!" She yelled, turning to me, "Fine," I said, Turing my hands up and walking away, she continued watering, angrily.

I reached the shed and took out a few planks, enough to fill our side of the fence, but out of the corner of my eye I saw a girl. "What the? Another one?" I said to no one. I dropped my planks when she turned to me, but I'd just realised the Crossbow she was using, was pointing at my head. I walked slowly up to her, she raised an eyebrow when she saw the gun on my back.

I slowly went to grab it but she fired, and it skinned my hand, "Ow!" I cried out, the arrow had missed my hand but blood still trickled out, "That was a warning shot." She said, "Don't make me actually hit you." I gulped.

Nick came out of the front door, and stopped in he's tracks, "Your ex?" I asked, joking. He smiled, "Nah, don't know this one." He said, "I'm not anyone's to play around with. How many of you is there?" She asked, "Eighteen or Nineteen, sweetheart." Nick answered.

She put down her crossbow, giving me time to pull out my gun and aim it at her, "Shhh," she said, putting her finger to her lips, she sounded British. Or Australian I couldn't tell. Out of the woods next to us, a little Jack Russell popped out, "Aww, good boy," She said, patting him, the dog smiled and wagged it's tail, and ran to me and licked me.

"What?" I said, she smiled. "My group just left me. I headed towards wherever Murph could lead me." She said, gesturing towards the dog.

"Hey, I'm Sophie." She said, putting out her hand. I shook it. "I mean no harm," Sophie said, "I just didn't know how'd people would be." I nodded, "Dan." I said, "How old?" Sophie and I both asked, "Twenty-one." She said. I nodded, "Twenty-three." I responded.

Nick put out he's hand, "Eighteen," he said, Sophie didn't shake it, "Aw, come one so Dan can get he's hand shook but not mine?" Nick said, she took he's arm and twisted it, "I'm Nick." He said, she let go, "Nice to meet you, too." She said, patting him in the back.

"You own this farm?" She asked, "Yeah, our dad's. Now it's mine and my brother's." I explained, "You two related?" She asked, "Naw, just a friend." Nick said, Sophie nodded. "Come on in." I said, "Really?" She asked, "Sure, c'on. You must be hungry." I said, leading to the front door, we walked up.
