Any stray projectiles were deflected back into the fray by Samantha's portals. At that point, the whirlpool of the skies only grew larger. The battle was at a stalemate. Vashley had to stop soon or else the vortex would go out of control.
"Hailstorm", Samantha screamed. She summoned portals above the enemies and where the debris was going to end up.
The enemies were hit numerous times shunning them to the ground.
Whilst fighting with the other lady, Aurora notices what is taking place. She scours through Erin's pockets to find something. Although she couldn't let down for too long as the long-haired lady would keep attacking aggressively.
Aurora found it — the vial to cure the sickness. She had to get closer to the group. "Goodbye, I'll see you later.", Aurora said, provoking the wild beast that was after her. The lady replied uncontrollably, "Agh, I will get you for that".
The lady ran even faster than before, like the speed of the wind during a hurricane. Even still, Aurora disappeared into the ground. Looking for her everywhere, the lady tries to spot Aurora. Out of the blue, she spots Aurora from a near mile away, next to the town hall. The lady starts to run sporadically.
Aurora throws the vial into the vortex, hitting the two enemies. All the debris drops to the ground and the enemies seem to be lying there.
The lady sees what happens and starts to run even faster. "How could you kill his bodyguards! I will get you for this.". Aurora tries to find another vial and finds one instantaneously.
She throws it at the woman. "Haha, I'm not following those imbeciles deary.", the woman says, trying to invigorate Aurora. The lady rushes forward grabbing Erin right from Aurora's hands. "Thank you for your service.", the lady said cynically. Aurora is astonished and mumbles under her breath a few words that the woman couldn't quite catch.
"Ha moping I see!", the lady says, mocking Aurora. "I'll see you later.". The lady disappears amongst the buildings. Aurora suddenly brings a smile to her face.
Aurora quickly regroups with the rest and ask if they're okay.
Everyone was exhausted. "So Aurora, where's Erin?", Bruno questioned. "About that...", Aurora responded with guilt. A silence ran across the crowd.
Aurora grabs her book, opened to a page and touches it lightly. She then proceeds to whisper a spell. Nothing happens, nothing happens after she chants the spell, even if the atmosphere has suddenly changed.
Stelen approaches the group, exhausted like everyone else. "Thanks, couldn't have done it without you.", she says all out of breath. Everyone said their part. Stelen calls for medics to bring the fallen enemies to the hospital to cure them.
The group check out of the hotel and say their goodbyes to Eileen. They depart with a loss of words. Grieving Erin's death they slowly move on towards the gate. Again meeting familiar and ominous travellers. Once again, they take no mind to them. They all questioned why they kept going to Malaine, as it seems it will be all for nothing. Especially with the loss of their reason to travel.
They travelled on despite the lack of reasoning, like zombies walking aimlessly in the night.
