Golden

Chapter 1

Maybe it was the constant digging of holes to plant trees, or the exhausting work that Bun was doing. The sun made Bun sweat so much more than last week.

They stuck the shovel near a grave that said; Jade April 22nd, a loved dog by many. It was Bun's dog when they were a small sheep. Jade was very sweet and walked around the graves, protecting the family if someone cuts down a tree or looks suspicious. It's sad Jade died a sudden death of cancer.

Bun leaned on the shovel, crossing her arms over the handle and placing her chin on her forearms for some comfort. They liked the warmth of the sun on their skin, when they weren't working. It was a nice break from the rainy cold days from last week. They inhaled a breath of the air and it smelled like dirt and tree branches, possibly from their hands being overly muddy. The dirt drying on their hands and sticky to their cheek. They sighed, not wanting to go wash up for the 4th time that week, water was scare where she lived, so taking showers were like gold in her house. They didn't want their future guests to not have showers.

They sighed and got off the shovel, heading to the town where chaos was a daily thing. The path not being placed properly made walking hard for Bun, their hooves always having rocks or small sticks stuff inside of them. This time they didn't mind while they walked to community bed and breakfast.

"Hey Bun!" Bun looked at the area where the voice came from. She looked up to the town baker, Juju.

Juju was always nice, making treats and sweets for the town. She lived in the town and was well known in the town. She sold flowers that she grows herself, and they last a while! But nobody buys them for the graveyard, which saddens Bun sometimes.

"Hi Juju!" The sheep hybrid said looking up. "What are you doing out?"

"I'm going to get more flowers! The flower selling out really quick, so i have to make sure not all of them are gone before the flower festival!" Juju explained, repositioning the basket in her arm.

"Well have fun at least!" Bun wished the baker.

"I always have fun when doing it!" Juju waved off Bun before Bun could say anything.

Bun watched as Juju walked off to the flower field, where only she can pick flowers. It was a stupid rule in Bun's opinion but they guessed it was for a safety reasons. Juju always seemed so carefree, it was like a nice breath of fresh air.

Bun continued to walk on the rock covered path and wiped away any lose ruble stuck in their hooves. The dirt was starting to get itchy on their skin and irritating to Bun. Thankfully the bed and breakfast was in sight of Bun. The colorful flowers made it stand out then the bar right next to it, which was drab and not a people entered in.

Bun pushed open the door to be greeted by Lemon, the bed and breakfast owner as well as other things.

"Hi Bun, need to use a shower again?" Lemon said, putting the floating flower pot back. Probably just freshly watered.

"Yeah, I'm sorry I don't want," Bun started.

"Guests to not have showers, you've told me many times Bun. Just go ahead and use it." Lemon finished what Bun was saying. Lemon gestured to the staircase leading up to the rooms.

Bun thanked Lemon and headed upstairs to a room. They entered in the room, a simple two roomed room. One for the bedroom which had a bed, a chest for items and an end table for the light. The other room holding a shower and a separate bathtub, as well as a sink and toilet, for obvious reasons. The shelf above the toilet held 6 neatly folded towels and some washcloths. It was a very fancy for a bed and breakfast bathroom.

Bun started the shower, and while the water was heating up Bun took off their sweater and jeans. Stray dirt falling off while the clothing was removed, exposing Bun's naked body and dirt on their body. Bun felt the water with their hand, determining it was hot enough to shower in. They removed their undergarments and stepped in the shower. The hot water feeling nice on Bun's sweaty body. The dirt washing off also felt nice, the bits of grass going down the drain. They could feel their hair go flat and their ears start to muffle with all the water in them, but it felt nice. Bun looked for the shampoo and found a small bottle for all guests to use, and they opened the tab and lathered the chemicals all in their hair. It felt nice to deep clean their hair once a week from all the dirt in the graveyard. They washed it out  and saw all the dirt and muck that washed out from this morning events. They then washed their body with the washcloth and soap that was given. It felt amazing, and the soap washed the dirt and even sweat off their body. It was like heaven to Bun, and they were deeply saddened when they had to leave the shower. It's not like Bun doesn't have showers, they just don't get to have hot showers often.

They stepped out and dried their body with the towel on the shelf. It was warm and fluffy, Bun didn't care that they just had a hot shower. They quickly dried their hair in resulted in slight puffiness. They wrapped the towel around their body and stepped out. The steam fogged up the mirror but it seeped through to the room. New clothing was folded on the bed with a note saying, 'Some clothes for you!' It was nice of Lemon to give Bun some clothes.

Bun put on the undergarments and pulled the large sweater over their head. The sweater fell to their mid thighs. The sweater itched and made Bun's legs feel like they had a rash, but better than nothing. Bun walked out and slumped down the stairs. Bun was tired as hell, their muscles sore from all the work.

"...okay! I'll have a room set up for you!" Lemon said.

Bun looked over and saw a stranger.
