Abuja, Nigeria.

"Jalilah dear, go back to your room and rest. We'll be there shortly." Hammad smiled at a weakened Jalilah before leading his wife away.

"What have you done to her, Janaan?! Answer me this instant!" he demanded as they reached their room.

"Why are you so worked up? I did what I should have done ages ago!" she replied with a calm, almost indifferent tone.

"What is wrong with you, Janaan? Are you insane?! Why on earth would you mess with your own sister's mental health for some petty revenge?"

"Hammad, please! Stop shouting at me! The last time I checked, Jalilah is my sister, not yours. I love her more than you ever could!" Janaan retorted.

A flash of hurt crossed Hammad's eyes before he quickly masked it.

"Of course, Janaan. Jalilah might not be my biological sister, but I regard her as one, and nothing you say or do will change that."

He sighed, taking Janaan's arms as his gaze softened.

"Babe, I hate seeing you like this. What happened to my sweet, bubbly Janaan? Why is the need for revenge consuming you so deeply? It's killing your happiness. Please, let it go."

For a moment, remorse flickered in her eyes, but she masked it just as quickly.

"I'm still your Janaan. But no, I won't stop until I get my revenge. They threw me away on a lonely, rainy night with nowhere to go. They tore me apart from my sister. No, they won't get away with that."

"Hammad, you see, part one of my revenge is already complete. I've succeeded in bankrupting them, just as I intended." She smirked, watching the gasp escape Hammad.

"Janaan!" He nearly raised his hand before stopping himself.

"What?! Go on, hit me, Hammad! Why did you stop?" she challenged, her eyes blazing.

"How could you do something so reckless without telling me?! Do you understand what you've done?"

"Yes, I know exactly what I did. I would have done it sooner if Jalilah hadn't been with them. Now that she's here with me, safe and sound, I can do whatever I want!"

"And yes, I made Jalilah forget them because she left me no choice! She refused to hate them despite all they did to me!"

"Janaan, so help me God, if you don't undo what you did, I'll have no choice but to call Abbi and Ammi." Hammad threatened, referring to Janaan's adoptive parents.

"What?!" Janaan panicked.

"You heard me. You have twenty-four hours, Janaan." He stared deeply into her eyes before leaving the room, leaving Janaan in a state of panic.

After Jalilah, Ammi and Abbi were the people Janaan loved most in the world. The thought of disappointing them shattered her. She couldn't bear their disapproval; if one of them was angry with her, she would spend days crying, barely eating, until they forgave her. Hammad knew exactly how to use her weakness against her.
