Summary of Chapter 1

A guy whos name is Grub and has a sister that he loves but doesn't named Gret. He has a mom and dad. He smokes to be cool and his parents don't agree. His sister told on him so he wanted revenge. He put rat guts in her towels after her shower. His parents were so mad as she was too. They took everything away for him for a month. His whole family was a huge chess family. One day Gret gets him a present and tells him that he isn't grounded anymore. That his parents let him out early. He was confused and worried. Dad asked him if he wanted to go to see ballet with the family and he said no so they were to take him to his aunts. He could see all the fear in his family and he began to really worry. His parents dropped him off and left. Something drove him to go back home and find out what's going on. A lot of the house was cold and all the chess boards were smashed besides his room. He was about to open his parents room when he felt the door was hot and he heard what sounded like fire. He was ready to call sometime for help until he heard someone laugh. He opened the door and discovered hell...
