"Are you serious? You're such a baby! It's only a month Harper! You've been away from your phone for longer than that!"
"But Lil, what will I do without you? I've never been away from you that long before and it's scary!"
"Ok, you're being childish and it's really pissing me off."
"You know what? I hope you have fun in Maine. And while your there, I hope you find a new friend to leave behind just like your doing to me." Harper Dylan stormed out of Lily's room and slammed the door behind her. This wasn't the first big fight they'd ever had, and it sure wasn't going to be the last. But, they would make up, they always did.
Lily was going to a dance camp in Maine called Shooting Star, because that didn't sound gay at all... Anyway, Lily's mom had seen a poster and practically told Lily that unless she went to this camp she would have no chance at a future career as a dancer yadda yadda yadda... The worst part? Lily agreed to it and was leaving in a week. Harper thought the real reason Lily's mom ever really brought the whole thing up was just so Lily could get away from her. Lily's mom hadn't really been a fan of Harper ever since she caught her in a restaraunt in the city with another man. The next time Harper went over to the Humphrey's, Lily's mom pulled her aside and made her swear she would never tell Lily. And to this day, Harper had kept her promise.
"Hey, what's wrong?" Ryan Humphrey was beautiful. He had perfect dirty blonde hair and big blue eyes. He was also Lily's brother and a senior, in other words, he was off limits.
"Oh," Harper sniffled and wiped a tear from her cheek, "I didn't see you there."
"Are you sad about Lily leaving?" Harper and Ryan had always been just as good of friends as Harper and Lily. Whenever Harper and Lily had a fight, Ryan would always come to the rescue.
Harper burst into a puddle of tears once again and ran to Ryan's embrace. "She just makes me so mad Ry!" her words were muffled into Ryan's sleeve, "How can she be so okay with this?"
"People change Dylan, and sometimes it isn't a good thing."
"I should give her something," burst out Harper. "something to take with her when she goes that will make her think of me."
"Damn Dylan," laughed Ryan, "I never would've taken you for a softie."
And with that, Harper rushed out the door and went home. She ran upstairs to her desk, grabbed an envelope, and wrote the words Open When...
