During a cold winter night in the year 1815, it was dark outside, only the moon would light the way up. And there, was sitting a man, on a bench, alone ; his name was Jack Blackford.

That was his first time back in his hometown since the accident. After it happened, he just couldn't stood the glares, the whispers of the inhabitants and the pity they gave him.Who wouldn't after all ; he was the only survivant.

No one really understood how could he survived something like that, all his family died in this fire, his parents, even his dear sister.

" He's a gift of god" people would try to explain.

After it happened, almost 8 years ago now, everyone in the town was shocked and mourning the family's death.

Tomas and Victoria Blackford, the parents, were healthy people, closed with everyone, they would go to the church when they could , that's even where they met, and they loved each other ever since.

The sister, Ivy, was very popular among the town. She was a sweetheart, smart but she was after all beautiful. All men would turn their head when she was walking by them, parents would stop her at every corner and introduce their sons for a possible mariage. She was loved by everybody. She and Jack were close since childhood, everyone thought they were twins because of their strong bond but Ivy was older just by 2 years, she loved her brother more than anything in the world.

Jack stood up from his bench, and began to walk back in his ,now, new home,

" It's provisional" that's what he would say to Cassie, the florist at the end of the street.

It was indeed true, he just wanted to say goodbye to this town one last time before escaping this nightmare that's followed him for about 8 years now.

The night passed by, and when the morning came, Jack was craving for some pastry . Wearing his black fock coat he walked down the street to satisfied his needs.

As he was walking back home, a figure next to him surprised him. He then turned his head, and there was standing a women, she was about his age he guessed , wearing a beautiful green dress. She was alone, standing still, but looked directly in his eyes. She then move the hat that's she was wearing and which the shadows was covering half of her face. Jack repressed a scream.

Red.

Half of her face was red, and burned.

He was petrified. He couldn't move. Why would a burned survivor just stare at him.

Was this a joke?

After a few long second he blinked. She wasn't there anymore. She was gone. He turned around ; no one. She vanished among the rest of the inhabitants

" I must woke up from the wrong foot" he murmured to himself.

Days went by and Jake began to pack his stuff to his new home, it was a lovely house in the country side, totally different from this town which he held a bad memory from. He didn't saw this woman again, he convinced himself that's it was juste an illusion, that was until his last night in town ....

He woke up in the middle of the night because he was feeling nauseous , he opened his eyes and screamed.

There she was ; the burning woman, standing in front of his bed just staring at him, she didn't say anything, she was only wearing a nightgown and holding a candle.

He recognized the burning on her face and with the candlelight he saw that they were also some on her right arm He had only one question to ask;

Who was this woman?

but before he could even open his mouth she cut him off:

" Don't." she said, with a voice that send him shiver down his spine.

He was stuck, he couldn't move, he couldn't even breathe, and she just kept staring at him. Jack turned his head to see the hours on his clock on his wall; it was 3 AM

He turned back to the woman, she was gone, like before. He was now certain that she wasn't an hallucination.

He didn't hesitate , he put some clothes on, took his last bag and went to his new home in the countryside which was two hours away.

Days passed in his new home, he couldn't sleep, he was always awake and always brought with him a gun in case he saw this woman again.

Despite the  weeks passed, he still remembered her but she never came back.

Four months after her last apparition, Jack was labouring his garden during the evening, the sun was setting. A breeze of wind, took his hat away, he bent down to grab it, when he redressed himself...

She was there, and like always she was staring at him.

He frozed, but then yelled ,tired and angry of this stupid game.

"Who are you ?"

The women sadly smile,

" You really don't recognize me, do you? "

He was now confused, was he supposed to recognize her ?

And then it hit him. He knew this face, he knew it too well . She just grew up. How could she be standing there ?  How ?

" Now you seem to" she said.

He collapsed to the floor, unable to stand , his eyes were wide , his mouth open but no sounds escaped his mouth, he kept repeating in his head ; how? Just how ?! How could she be alive ?!

She walked slowly to him, her steps were soundless , she looks like she was floating in the air. She bend down and whisper in his ears:

" Now brother, why did you burn the house down ?" Ivy asked.
