Goodbye

Hello there all the beautiful souls, this is my very first try at winning your hearts with my childish writing. Hope you people like it. This is just the first chapter of my new and first serious plot about two bestfriends who face complications when one of them falls for the other. I think this is a very common situation that we teens face every now and then and its sorta my own story too. So please be kind and read it, comment and forgive if I'd made any errors but please don't be rude. Your honest analysis would help me become a better writer in the future.

Chapter One: A Heartbreak

Incidents had been intense enough to break Rianna down. She tried and tried harder to fight back her tears as she recalled what exactly happened a while ago. Just before she found herself in such a devastating state, she met her best friend Josh at a restaurant.

Josh Hendricks and Rianna Bryson have been friends for years. These were enough to date back their companionship to about 10 years. Jo and Ri (as they were referred fondly) lived pretty much together ever since their kindergarten. They grew up together in the same neighbourhood, Rosemary Ave in the Town of Rockville, went to the same schools and now attends the same college and they are family friends.

It was indeed abrupt that Rianna’s evening had gone wrong because she always have a good time with Josh but today she really did mess things up. She confessed her love to Josh at the restaurant. Josh who acknowledged Rianna as his very special friend, could not take her otherwise as a friend and was unbelievably shocked and could not produce a reaction on time.

‘Josh, I love you’, said Rianna with her lips barely moving.

‘I love you too Ri’, said Josh in a frank manner.

This time Rianna held his cold hands and spoke while she looked into his deep blue eyes.

‘Josh, I want to spend my whole life with you,’

‘Hey Ri, take it easy. I’m always there for you. We’re friends forever. Now tell me if there's something troubling you?’

‘You are not getting this. Josh Hendricks, its hard to admit but I have fallen in love with you. I love you Josh!’

‘What joke, Ri? C’mon babes, you are not serious. Are you?’ chuckled and said Josh.

Rianna did not speak anymore. Her silence had convinced Josh about the true feelings in her heart.

Josh was caught in such a confusion that he knew of nothing that he could possibly do and seemed to move barely from his current seated position. Rianna stayed seated at the table in front of the restaurant gate for few moments. Her shiny green eyes gazed at Josh’s moonlit face for a reply which was expressionless for a while. After a long halt, Josh’s nice red lips pressed opened to say something.

‘Ri, let me tell you this if you are serious. Look, I love you, very much as my best friend. Not only that, I love you as a person that I look up to in every situation.  Friendship is above all and our friendship is priceless. I’ve never quiet seen you as that sorta to begin relationship with. I don’t wanna break your heart, Ri. Actually, I don’t know how to deal with this but I’m sorry. I’m not ready to destroy our beautiful friendship. I do not want to act stupid or take any wrong decisions in such a hurry. I will need time to cope with this but we're friends and ought to remain forever. I hope you are getting this.’

‘Oh yeah, totally. Its my mistake. I'm really sorry Jo. Sorry’.

Rianna knew that she did not commit any crime by confessing her true love to her bestfriend but nevertheless, with great pain in heart and tears in eyes, she ran back to her stylish new black Nissan Altima. With such a heartbreak, Rianna was in no state to drive herself back to home, but however she pulled her gear and speeded to the nearby bar and had few shots of alcohol to soothe her wounded heart.

‘Get 6 shots please with lime and salt’, ordered Rianna.

That night Rianna had around 20 shots and could not handle herself driving and bumped her sedan with a tree. Luckily her best girlfriend, Nina Lopez called at her iPhone and got to know about the situation. On being informed about the incident, Nina rushed to the scene and rescued Rianna. The two girls headed to Nina’s house as her parents were out of town for two weeks and Rianna just could not go to her home being drunk with her new car being bumped. Nina called to Rianna’s home and said to her mom that she’ll be staying the night at her’s.

After a calm and soothing hot bath, Rianna stepped out of the shower in robe and began to dry her wet hair in front of the dresser’s mirror.

Nina stepped in the dresser and said ‘Hey girl, you alright? Why do you smell like a mini bar?’

Rianna did not react immediately to Nina’s questions and carried on drying her hair with a towel.

While running her thin, feminine fingers across her thick, dark hair, she answered, 

‘Just a heartbreak would do that, I suppose’. 

Nina who was confused as ever and did not understand anything at all was surprised and asked Rianna again, ‘A heartbreak? Girl, you alright? What crap are you saying? Who broke your heart? And how come I don’t know about it?’.

‘Josh broke my heart’, said Rianna

‘Who? Josh Hendricks? Are you talking about your best guy friend?!’, Exclaimed Nina with utter astonishment.

‘Yes, I am talking about Jo.’ said Rianna.

‘What about Jo? Did he say no? Did he?’, asked Nina.

Rianna fought against her will to let go of her tears and stammered the words:

‘He said he only loves me as his best friend. Nothing beyond or below that. Guess that was a big, fat NO to my love.’

Nina was full of sympathy for her best girlfriend and tried to comfort Rianna by saying:

‘Babes, why are you even giving a damn shit to Jo? Forget it. It was not love. Maybe infatuation but you aren’t sure that if it is, right?’

Rianna nodded in approval.

‘So why you crying, Jellybean? Don’t waste your time on Jo’, advised Nina.

‘But I love him Nina, I love him and I know it more than anyone else!' exclaimed Rianna.

This time she gave up and completely broke into tears.

‘Honey! Don’t cry. We’ll talk about it soon but not now. I got this hot chocolate for you, finish it up and then get some sleep’, said Nina.

Rianna finished her cup of hot chocolate and slowly curled up on the soft bed, pulled over her blanket and shut her eyes. She thought she might find some peace by doing so but she was disappointed because even then all she can see was Josh, spinning inside her head. She was completely embarrassed, even in her sleep.
