Night One

Through tossing and turning for hours on end, I fell asleep, finally.

The dream took me back to a place I feel familiar with, but I've never been. I don't seem to be insecure about where I am heading or who I'm with. My dream like self just walks the snowy path, leading me to a place my awaken self is unaware of. It then flips me back, almost like rewinding my life, putting myself in a car. Trying to see where I am going to be further in the dream.

I'm in the car, but I'm not alone, I'm not driving. I can't see who is though. Am I being taken? No, this is a comfortable aura around me. Looking out the windows, I see a very small town. I know I'm far away from anything else. It feels like this is the first town I've seen in a few hours.

I know that place. It's a small, pink, doll looking house; but it isn't a house at all, it's almost like a gift shop. It has records, lots of posters and a cute tabby cat that likes to sit on the cashier station. It almost feels crammed any time I go in there, like the young lady that owns it is trying to get rid of everything she owns as quickly as she can.

We drive past it, my head still in the clouds, as we reach the top of the mountain we've been scaling. I notice a cop slowly pulling out of the snowy ditch. I tell whoever is driving to slow down. I don't know how fast we're going but I don't want to get pulled over. It puts me in a deep fear that no matter what we're doing, we're going to get caught. An overwhelming feeling hits me as we pass the officer; then it quickly fades. I don't know where he went or if he even noticed us, I didn't think to turn around and look.

I black out the rest as we pull into a barren parking lot; nothing but a thousand trees, the snow on the ground and our car in sight. Where are we?  I take a look around, there's a noticeable path comes to view. Walking towards it, I can only see my legs, and to my left, their legs, walking almost in synch, it's a woman, that's all I can tell. Who? Looking up, I see the trees starting to part around a cabin. We walk around to the back, to another small path, deeper into the sea of trees, but an opening of a cliff on the side. All I can tell about the direction we're going is up.

"We're going to see the waterfall!" My dreaming self exclaims. What waterfall?

We continue to walk- I'm close to the edge. I hate heights but I'm freakishly not afraid. Why am I not afraid?  It's a far drop down, and it's only getting further.

Almost as if I blacked out, we randomly show up to a huge opening. A man stands there talking about the waterfall. He sounds around my age, but who is he? He wears a full mask, it looks like peppermint butler, from Adventure Time. He hugs me, telling me he misses me, and I don't hesitate to give his mask a kiss on the cheek. He's tall, at least six four, he feels strong like he's walked this path his entire life. the snow seems to fade as we walk through the pasture on the mountain. It's so flat for being a high point.

For some reason, I start running. I'm scarred, the feeling is overwhelming, and another flashback hits me.

"I don't want to be with you if I can't have my freedom." My dreaming self tells this masked man. Has he been controlling me? "You can have whatever you want, but you can't leave this town." He sneers back. Why can't I leave? Who is he to bring me here?

I feels like I've been running for miles, when I finally reach a huge building. It looks like an event is going on through the glass doors. I don't hesitate to go inside, looking behind me. I can't see them, but I can definitely hear them. An army coming after me, but they're all masked. I don't know who they are.

As I look around at this black tie event that's being held, all I see are more masks. But not like the others that are chasing me, no, they're not candy. They're animals. What in the world is happening?

An idea hits me like a brick, and as if a time skip happens, me and all of these masked animals are holding candy, ready for war. The candy masks then reach the corner and we go all out, throwing this massive pile of candy onto these warriors.

My view is switched to the peppermint masked man, in bed, "I will do anything for her, she just has to realize there's no way out of this crappy town, we've all tried". As if I'm raven, it flashes back through my eyes and I drop to my knees, closing my eyes, felling warm and comfortable again. I'm picked up gently, and i rock my head back against the warriors arms. I know my place.

And then I wake up.
