We have all heard of the man in the moon, but what if I tell you it's not a man. And have you ever heard of the man in the ocean? No? Well let me tell you the Tale of the spirits of the ocean and the moon.
“Once up on a time, in a small village in candy land, a baby Bean was born. The moment the mother saw her baby, she already knew her child was something special, that´s why she named her Yue, which is Mandarin Chinese for “Moon“. She had hair as white as snow, one ocean blue and one night black eye.
Yue did good in school and had lots of friends, but still she felt like something was missing; like a part of her was missing. She didn't tel anybody how she felt, because she thought that it was because she was an only child and maybe just felt a bit lonely at home, but when her mother died, Yue´s father decided to tell her that she wasn't an only child at all.
Yue had an older brother named Haiyang, which means “Ocean“. He was kidnapped at the hospital when he was born, which made Yue´s mother really sad, but when Yue was born, she felt overwhelmed with joy again. Yue was confused. She didn't know what to do or think. Many weeks she thought about what her father said.
On her 18th birthday, she decided that she wanted to go look for her brother. She looked everywhere: In mint city, the cotton candy woods, behind the lemonade waterfall, but she couldn't find her brother anywhere. After months of searching without any luck, she remembered what her father said: Haiyang means, ocean. Yue went to the milk sea. She walked on the cookie crumb sand for days, but still no Haiyang.
Some days after she arrived at cookie beach, a mysterious young man showed up. The man had licorice black hair, one night black and one ocean blue eye. Could it be, Yue thought. Now the man noticed the similarities too. He asked Yue if she would like to come to his house, so she wouldn't have to sleep in the cold. Yue followed the man. The man headed up some chocolate milk. They sat down and just stared at each other, wondering why they locked so alike. After 5 minutes Yue introduced herself. The man smiled. He had a smile, as bright as fresh fallen snow. People always said Yue had such a smile. Haiyang was the name the man introduced himself with. Yue looked at him with open eyes. She told Haiyang everything her father told her, about the kidnapping, her brother and even about her mothers death. Haiyang found the death of Yues mother sad, but didn't´t believe the rest of the story. Yue showed him a picture of her and her parents and asked him if he remembers anything, but he declines. He had never seen any of those people. With a tear in her eye Yue wished Haiyang good night and went to bed.
Many hours later she woke up to a loud scream. She ran downstairs to see Haiyang getting pulled into the Sea by a chocolate sea monster. She rushed thorwords Haiyang, reached for his hand and got it just in time. Their hair and eyes started to glow. The sea monster lets go of Haiyang, but he didn't fall to the ground. Yue and Haiyang flowed above the beach, looked at each other one last time, then closed their eyes. Haiyang turned into black a Hippocampus, Yue into a white Pegasus. The sea monster tried to attack them, but with their eyes still glowing, they combined their powers and defeated him. As the sea monster went back into the ocean, Haiyang and Yue went back to normal and into the house. For minutes, they just stared at each other again, till Haiyang said, that he thinks Yue maybe was right. After all what just happened, how couldn't she be?
The next day, Yue decided to go home to her father. Haiyang went along. As they arrived home, their father couldn't believe his eyes. His children had finally returned. He prepared a meal to cellebrate. As they ate, they told their father everything that happened. He listened to their story the whole night long. After a while, Haiyang asked his father if he knows why this happened to him and his sister. The father explained, that their mother once helped a horse in need, eventough nobody else did. The horse was laying at the side of the road; she was hurt. Their mother cared for the horse. This cought the animal fairys attention. She went to their mother and thanked her for helping the horse. In return, she would give the children their mother would have, each a special power. The kids looked at their father with bright eyes.
Later, when they went to sleep, the man prayed to his wife and said “You were right about them, but they are even more special than you thought.“ After many years had passed, Yue and Haiyang had too. Yue became the Moon spirit and Haiyang the spirit of the Ocean.“Now you know the Tale of the Moon and the Ocean. Maybe next time, when you go out at night or swimmming in the ocean, remember this Tale and tell it to those, who are scarred, so they know, that if something happenes, they will be protected.
