The young Gryffindor was shaking. Her curly hair fell over her face hiding the only side that her interlocutor could still make out.

- You are sorry?" she whispered in a knotted voice.

- It... it was raining and...

- It was raining?" Hermione almost choked as she turned to him. Ron!

Her voice tried hard to be shrill, but it was no use. Her throat hurt so much that she couldn't scream anymore. She had this strange feeling of being drained of all her strength.

- You told me... to be in front of the claws...

- Yes, I know!" her boyfriend defended himself. I... after seeing the state in which you were in potion, I said to myself that you were not well that you must need comfort...

- So where were you when I needed you?

The two people were now face to face, completely ignoring the presence of the few remaining students in the room. Hermione's face was pink and wet with a few tears that couldn't help but run lazily down her colored skin. She looked into Ron's eyes and her gaze was imploring.

- If you knew I needed you, then why, why did you leave me alone?

- I...

Ron noticed that his girlfriend had not changed. This disturbed him and he tried to justify himself as best he could.

- I didn't think you'd be there I guess... I wasn't sure... and...

- Ron!" Hermione interrupted him, the same pleading, pained look in her eyes. How can you say that?! You called me, I came and you... you dare say you weren't sure I was coming? I didn't know what you wanted but I still waited in the rain for several dozen minutes, shivering, all alone, under the mocking eyes of the others, wondering if you would finally deign to show up!

A suffocating heat slipped inside her, strangely accompanied by a sudden cold. She was silently crying at the deplorable attitude of her boyfriend who didn't know what words to use to try to apologize. Unable to bear this conversation or this atmosphere, Hermione who had let the emotion overwhelm her raised her eyes to the sky before wiping them with the back of her sleeve. She just wanted to know that at least one person would not abandon her, no matter what she was to her. She believed Ron would be there, even if the nature of her feelings for him had changed. It had been a while since she realized that she couldn't see the redhead the way she used to. She knew she loved him, but he was no longer the man in her life. Still, she had hoped he would be there for her. She was wrong.

She looked at the redhead one last time and walked out of the common room with a weary step, blowing a thousand times. It had been a trying day. And not just the day, but for some time now, she had had this horrible weight on her heart that prevented her from living peacefully. And Malfoy had a lot to do with it. She hated it when he popped into her thoughts. She hated herself even more for thinking about him after all he had done.

Her head hurt horribly, and she was getting dizzy. The heat and cold were still present in her now frail being. Nevertheless, she continued her run regardless of her aches. She ran down the almost deserted stairs again and again. The more energy she expended, the more tired she felt her limbs becoming.

She walked down the castle corridors to the dungeons, towards the Slytherin common room, not sure she would find the one she was looking for. It was already late, and he was probably already in his dormitory. As for her, she felt like she had spent all her energy wandering around the castle. After a few minutes of wandering the corridors of the empty dungeons, she decided to go out and check the cobblestone courtyard where the Gold and Silver dueling clubs were held. Not really knowing where she was going anymore, she finally arrived at the main gate to exit onto the courtyard, walk across the terrace and then walk to the sort of archway that led to another cobblestone courtyard deserted by her students; the Slytherins. It was a good thing she was a prefect, otherwise her presence outside the dormitories at such a late hour would have been strongly reprimanded.
