That was the last time I ever saw him, heading to his house the next day to find it empty, inside only his household cat and two letters, one addressed to me now and another in a few years. I quickly opened the envelope to find a few hundred-dollar bills and a messily written letter, a few slightly dried tears dotting it.
Playing... Letter 1
Hey Buttons,
I'm sorry that I need to leave now.
Please take great care of little [cat name]
You were always good with pets.
I'll send letters every month, so then you wont
ever forget me!
Please don't forget me, I'll always
look back on our time together.
Love,
George
With the fluffy kitten in arms, I slowly started my way to my house, well I always considered it more of a house than a home, because my home would always be wherever George was, but now I guess I needed to start thinking of the house I lived in as my home.
- "My hou-home, my home" I repeated quietly to myself "my home without George" I thought after a bit.
- "Will he forget me?" I thought "of course he won't he promised to send letters every month" I thought bereding myself internally.
Eventually those letters stopped coming.
After a few years, the letters would sometimes
skip a month, but I blamed the post office
But after a while, the letters would skip a few
months before I got another.
...I knew he was going to forget me...
