'Leave me alone- LEAVE ME ALONE!' The screams of the frustrated eighth-grader could be heard miles away, and the homophobic, racist remarks of Jacob Levant only made it worse. 'YOU FREAKING IDIOT' Lou began to hit him with a hardcover book. The whole class crowded around the fight, and Jacob's friends stood in utter disbelief, but not as pale-faced as Mrs Kusher, the headmistress. 'LOUISA ALEXANDRA CHAISER, IN MY OFFICE, NOW! Lou dragged themselves over to the headmistress' office, middle fingering Jacob on the way.

'This time you have gone too far, you should be ashamed of yourself.' Mrs Kusher glared at Louisa with her icy, cold blue eyes, massive tears were streaming down Lou's face as Mrs Kusher scolded her 'Young lady, what you did was unacceptable.' Mrs Kusher's words felt like they were tearing open Lou's heart, xe couldn't hold it in anymore and shouted 'I am not a lady! I'm non-binary! When will you finally understand!?' Mrs Kusher stared in surprise at how Lou had shouted at her, She finally started to feel sorry for Lou, 'Look I'm sorry, but I have no choice but to give you a permanent suspension from this school. An email to your mother will be sent out immediately.'

Lou's heart raced. 'No please, please, don't tell my mother this, please, she'll hit me again.' Those words couldn't get past her lips. The only thing that came out of her mouth was 'She hits me.' Mrs Kusher looked like someone who had just found out their best friend was leaving the country, and they would never see each other again.'I'm sorry, my sweet gir- I mean, my sweet child, I have no choice' Lou burst into tears and collapsed onto the cold, hard floor, Mrs Kusher kneeled down and gave Lou's back a little pat. She noticed their face was paler than ever 'You can go sit on the couch, I'll get you some water' Mrs Kusher whispered, her sweet voice helped Lou calm down and reach the couch, she was breathing heavily, thinking about what xer mother would do to them. A while later, Mrs Kusher came back with a plastic glass of water, Lou slowly drank the freezing cold drink, it was the last glass of water coming from that school she drank. 'It's time for you to go home, I'll escort you to the exit.' Lou blinked back their tears and stood up, leaving that school maybe was positive for them? She wouldn't have to see Jacob again, Lou felt ready to face her abusive mom. As xe walked down the fancy hallways alongside Mrs Kusher, Lou noticed Jacob was holding a penguin ice pack to his head, Jacob noticed Lou and his angry face quickly turned into a fearful expression 'L-looks like the freak is getting expelled!" Jacob teased while stuttering, he clearly sounded like he was terrified of Lou 'Shut the frick up, Jacob!' Lou shouted back. Lou eventually reached the exit 'It was lovely to have you here' Mrs Kusher quietly told her as she opened the school gates 'Thank you, Mrs Kusher.' Lou said as they walked out of the school, As Lou walked on the sidewalk, xe put on their AirPods and listened to some music.

A few minutes later, Lou reached the old, dirty building where they lived, she walked inside of the building and looked at the building's guard, he was sleeping, like always, their neighbours and she were frequently getting robbed because of him. Lou walked up the dirty staircase up to the last floor, xe could've used the elevator, but it had been broken for a month now and no one even bothered to call for help. Lou opened the front door, knowing that the next 2 hours would be filled with their mother yelling and probably hitting Lou. She took a deep breath and stepped into the small, slim hallway, and went up to her mother's room.

'It stinks in here! What have you been doing mom?' She asked, but her mother didn't answer. She was lying on the bed, with a box of sleeping pills spilt on the sheets. 'Mom- MOM? ARE YOU ALIVE!?' Their mother's limp body lay silent. She took a box and threw it at her mom's head. No movement. They looked at the box. Half of its contents were gone. 'No more than 5 pills should be consumed, otherwise, it may result in death.'
