"Dragon and dragon rider love! It will be the death of each and every one of you. Mark my words." Dagur exclaimed, as hunters started to handcuff the riders and put muzzles on their dragons.
Due to the commotion caused by Fishlegs, the others riders had went to see what was happening but as a result, they left their dragons exposed to the fire of the craze-inducing, dragon root arrows.
The maroon Monstroius Nightmare and speckled Hideous Zippleback had been shot and fell into the sea below, giving the hunters the opportunity to net them and bring them aboard.
The group were huddled together, surrounded by hunters. The looks on their faces told Urszula the they knew that if the made any move to escape Meatlug would become simply that, Meat."What are we going to do with them?" Heather asked Ursa's uncle, who was stroking his stubbled chin.
"What do you mean sister?" Dagur interjected, furrowing his brows. "We dispose of them while we have the chance!"
Suddenly a piercing screech rang through the sky. Ursa's eyes instantly looked up to find the source of the high pitched wail. If she'd have blinked, she would have missed a distinct shadow darting across the sky. The silhouette came closer to the ship and it appeared as if a figure jumped off it and landed on the deck.
"STOP!"
Running out of the fog was a tall, one-legged boy that looked slightly older then Urszula. He stood in front of the riders, chest rising and falling with heavy breaths.
The boy had shaggy brown hair that stuck out in odd places and green eyes that swirled with so much emotion. Anger, urgency, hatred. But Ursa saw a knowing look in them, making her feel nervous. She couldn't decide whether it was a good nervous or not.
Although he was quite skinny, Urszula felt intimidated by him, authority rolled off him, she could tell by his creased brows and determined manner.
Ursa found herself smiling. She had never seen someone stand up to her uncle before - well, accept for her and father. Ryker's body language became tense, this boy must be the leader of the dragon riders."Hiccup!" Dagur exclaimed. "Thank you for joining us! It would be unbecoming if you didn't surrender with your friends."
"Who said anything about surrendering? But I'll accept yours if that is what you're suggesting?" Hiccup quipped, taking a step forward and holding his hand out to his Nightfury as if to say 'not yet'.
As much as Urszula hated her uncle's ways of business she didn't it want to see him get hurt. Although he wasn't the most loving relative and could be rather cruel sometimes, he was her flesh and blood.
"You're not funny boy," Ryker growled. "I'm warning you, I will run this Gronkle through. Muzzle that Nightfury!"
"Yeah I hear what your saying but thanks to us you have no stock." Hiccup scoffed, "You need every dragon you can get."
"A dead dragon is worth nothing to Viggo." Heather whispered in Ryker's ear as her eyes landed on the red head. Her eyes widened, warning Ursa to say put.
Urszula knew she had to do something. The air was beginning to grow thick with anticipation, both parties had a plan and it was down to who was going to strike first. She caught sight of Hiccup's middle and index finger subtly gesture towards Ryker, she didn't know what that meant but she got the feeling it wasn't good.
Well, for her uncle anyway.
Without thinking, Urszula stepped out of the storage room determined to dissipate the situation before it started. She wanted her uncle safe, but she also wanted the riders to fly away unscathed. She didn't know why, but she felt like she needed to help and protect them.
As quietly as possible she made her way to the group, ducking behind a crate so she could finalise the details of her plan her head.
