A.N. This was requested by StrongBlueMonster777 who requested some Texas angst. I apologize in advance if it isn't that good, I've literally never written Texas angst before, nor did I think I would ever write it, so bear with me here please, okay? Okay. Enjoy!

Synopsis: When one of the other states gets fed up with Texas's big ego and tells him to shut up for once, the seemingly confident state is actually slightly broken by this. And when I say "slightly," I mean a lot.

"God, could you get any more egotistical?! How about focusing on more than just yourself for once?! I'm sick of it! You're just a selfish jerk! Just shut up!" California snapped. He didn't mean to be that aggressive. It just came out that way.

Texas was, admittedly, a little hurt by this, but of course, he would never admit that out loud to the others. So he just played it off like he always does. "You're just jealous."

California groaned and stormed out of the room. Texas went up to his room and quietly broke down, trying to be as quiet as possible so no one could hear it.

Meanwhile, Florida had heard yelling, so he went to go check it out. He noticed California was fuming. He carefully approached Cali.

"Hey, Cali, what happened?" He asked cautiously.

"Texas! He just makes me so frustrated!" California said.

"Oh... Well, I'll let you just calm down then..." Florida said, reading the room (even though he can't read).

Florida walked up the stairs, on his way back to his own room, when he passed Texas's room, and heard soft, quiet sobs coming from inside the room.

Florida listened carefully, making sure he was hearing correctly. He turned the door knob and slowly opened the door.

"Texas...?" Florida asked, entering the room and noticing Texas leaning against the wall with tears streaming down his face.

"What's wrong, Tex?" Florida asked, sitting on the floor next to Texas and putting his hand on Texas's shoulder.

Texas stayed silent, not being able to look Florida in the eyes. He hated that one of the other states had to see him like this.

"Are you upset about what happened with Cali?" Florida asked, trying to get any response whatsoever from Texas.

Texas once again stayed silent, but slightly nodded, looking down at the ground, ashamed that he was so upset by this.

"Hey, it's okay. For what it's worth, I don't think you're selfish." Florida tried his best to console him, not sure what to do really. He had never seen Texas like this, and he didn't know what to do.

"Maybe I am though... and just never realized it...?" Texas said quietly.

"Okay, at times, it can seem like you're a little bit selfish, but we know you aren't. I'm sure California didn't mean what he said. We all sometimes say things we don't mean." Florida said.

"Yeah, but I'm a huge jerk. And I'm just realizing this now." Texas said.

"Okay, sometimes, you are a bit mean, but it's nothing serious and we know you don't completely hate us!" Florida said, emphasis on "completely."

"Of course I don't hate you guys." Texas said simply.

"Exactly. Remember it isn't selfish to occasionally put yourself first. As long as you don't put yourself first literally all of the time and as long as you aren't entirely annoying and mean about it, which I don't think you are. Therefore, not selfish!" Florida said.

The last part of that made Texas chuckle a bit. He wiped his tears and looked at Florida with a small smile on his face. "Thanks, Florida."

"Anytime, buddy!" Florida hugged Texas and then said, "now I should get going. I think Loui wanted me to help him with something."

"Don't break any laws!" Texas said as Florida started running out of the room.

            "No promises!" Florida called back.
