I was driving today and I was listening to Billie Eilish's song 'everything I wanted'. I am not a big Billie fan, but that song means a lot to me for various reasons. And the story just popped into my mind.

Hope you enjoy it and also... the cover picture is perfect (found it on pinterest) ... I'd like to thank the artist. So if you know him/her I'd appreciate your help.

Marinette stared at the calm waters of the river as her friends installed the instruments in the Couffaine family boat.

-Are you ready? - Luca asked, standing next to her.

-No- she answered calmly still staring at the horizon.

Luca smiled and placed his hand on top of hers on the railing.

-I'm surprised you wrote a song. I am glad. But it surprised me.

Marinette looked at him and sighed.

-I... No... well... I just wrote the lyrics, thanks to you for helping me with the music.

-My pleasure.

-Sorry I'm late! - Adrien yelled as he got on the boat.

Marinette bristled at his voice but she didn't turn around.

-He is here ... –he whispered, letting go of her hand.

-Shut up! - she whispered back.

Luca laughed and walked away to greet his friend.

Marinette sighed one last time and closed her eyes.

This song was for HIM. She owed him so much. And he would never listen to it.

-Marinette.

His voice snapped her out of her trance.

-A ... Adrien ... hi ... - she said babbling and giggling.

-Luca told me you wrote a song; I can't wait to hear it.

-Yes... yours... I mean... mine... I mean... -she sighed and closed her eyes - it's... for a friend.

-It's ok to be nervous - he said placing his hands on the girl's shoulders - But all your friends are here by your side, don't be afraid.

-Not all of them- she whispered.

-What?

-Not... nothing... yes... thank you.

-Marinette, it's all set!- Rose yelled at her.

Adrien let go and she slowly walked away.

Luca helped her up, and soon they were both alone in stage.

Marinette sighed, closed her eyes, gulped and focused on HIM.

Adrien was completely lost in Marinette's soft and soothing voice.

"... And you say, 'As long as I'm here
No one can hurt you
Don't wanna lie here
But you can learn to
If I could change
The way that you see yourself
You wouldn't wonder why you hear
They don't deserve you'... "

Adrien was suddenly hit by a memory. One not so far ago.

Ladybug sat on the ledge of a building staring at the horizon.

-Are you ok, M'lady?

No answer.

-I can't do this anymore, Chat – she said in a hurt voice.

He sat next to her, listening.

-I've done everything I can. Everything they have asked for, everything. And I'm not enough... I will never be.

-You know it's not tru...

-It is true, Chat – she interrupted him, wiping a tear that came down her cheek – It's true, and it hurts... Everybody wants something from me now, and I don't wanna let them down...

He immediately wrapped his arms around her.

-Hey... listen to me – he said pulling her chin up until their eyes met just inches away from each other – I am here. As long as I'm here no one can hurt you.

Ladybug blinked.

-I am not lying. They don't deserve you – he added.

-Wh.. why? – she asked in a whisper.

Chat Noir sighed and answered.

-If I could change the way that you see yourself, you wouldn't wonder why you hear they don't deserve you.

Marinette melted at his words, she threw herself over him and cried.

Chat Noir wrapped his arms around her and comforted her.

Adrien sat there dumbfounded.

"It can't be..." he thought.

"... If I knew it all then would I do it again?
Would I do it again?
If they knew what they said would go straight to my head
What would they say instead?..."

-Oh Chat - said Ladybug while he wiped her tears, still holding her in his arms. –If I knew it all then would I do it again? If I knew how much this would hurt would I still take the miraculous? Would you?

Adrien let out a small laugh.

-You better, no one else could be My Lady.

She giggled, blowing her nose with a tissue.

-If they knew what they said would go straight to my head, what would they say instead? – she asked.

-Probably the same. Some people are just shitty.

Marinette laughed and snuggled in Chat Noir's chest.

-You smell familiar – she said.

-Really? Like who?

-No idea, it's just familiar.

"... If I knew it all then would I do it again?
Would I do it again?
If they knew what they said would go straight to my head
What would they say instead?..."

It was her. His lady.

Adrien covered his mouth with his hands, trying hard to keep those tears of joy from falling.

He'd found her.
