Megan looked at me in shock, "Run away? Where would you go?"

"I don't know, anywhere is better than with her." I stated solemnly.

"You could live at my house, move in, stay in my room," Megan suggested.

"No. No, that wouldn't work. She would obviously find me. I would need to go somewhere far away." I articulated.

"Oh. Okay." Megan said, looking distraught, "Just let me know when we're leaving." She continued with a smile.

"We?" I question astonished, "No, no, no. There's no we. I can't ask you to leave everything and come with me."

"You didn't need to." She stated simply. I sighed, there was no way to talk her out of this. Once she had an idea, there was no convincing her otherwise.

"Fine, but it stays between us." I said, "No one else can know our plans." I continued rubbing my hands together jokingly.

Megan's face lit up, "Awesome! I'm going to pack as soon as I get home so I'll be ready at a moment's notice, it'll be like a road trip!" I shook my head in dismay, leave it to Megan to make a getaway become a road trip. "Don't look at me like that. It'll be fun. You just don't know what fun looks like." Megan challenged mischieviously.

"Oh yeah?" I challenged back. I jumped on my feet and raced down to the creek.

Megan looked horrified, "You wouldn't! These are new shoes!" I laughed as I scooped some water into my hand and sent it flying through the air towards her. She hurriedly removed her shoes and followed in suit. She cupped water and shot it at me. I screamed and tried to dodge it.

"Stop!! Ahhh!! You're getting me soaked!" She yelled when I returned the favor.

"You just don't know what fun looks like" I mimicked in my best impression of her. Then continued to splash her. It didn't take long for us to become dripping wet.

"Truce?" I asked suspiciously when she had slowed down.

"Truce." Megan replied happily, "Ugh, my mom is going to kill me when she sees how dirty I got." she said plopping in the sunspot on the grass.

"Well my aunt is going to kill me whether I'm soaking wet, muddy or sparkly clean." I said with a small giggle followed by Megan.

We layed on the grass taking in one another's presence. I can't believe I've only known Megan for four years. It seems like we've been friends forever. We have gone through so much together. I have forgotten how much I need her in my life. Without her I don't know what I would do. We continued to lay on the soft, plush grass, while drying off in the sun's warming rays, with the baby blue sky above.

My phone vibrated in my back pocket. I took it out to answer it, I didn't need to see it to know who it was. I could just hear her voice in my head scolding me for leaving.

My finger hovered over the accept button when Megan spoke out.

"Don't answer! She can smell fear in your voice!" Megan stated with complete seriousness. I giggled, as I accepted the call.

"Hello?" I asked innocently, trying to get on her nerves.

"Where are you, I never gave you permission to leave," she said in her regular high pitched screeching voice. "Ditching your father's funeral service is low, even for you."

"I am so sorry," I said in the most innocent tone I could scrape up. "I'll be there right away."

"You better be, I mean, you wouldn't want to miss any more of your father's service," she said in a more lighthearted tone. "Everyone is expecting you to be a role model here, and I know this is hard for you, and it's hard for me too, so let's just try to get along. Okay?" She said in an almost nice tone.
