Was it worth it?

The clock struck 11pm. It was around the beginning of June, summer school had just begun and I was not happy about it. My friends and I were laughing along while playing Rocket League. It was way past my bedtime to be up. I was supposed to be sleeping at least an hour ago since I had to go to class in the morning. I wanted to spend my summer going out and having fun, not attending school and learning about the government. I knew I could easily just take that over the school year, why was I wasting my time taking it now?

But at the current moment, I was more focused on what I was eating in the next 10 minutes, not learning in less than 10 hours. At that point I was willing to eat anything to get my stomach to shut up.

"Let's doordash something." I recommended, leaving the current lobby and heading back to the home screen, looking down at my phone like I was gonna be able to see them. We were talking on an XBOX party and playing on them at the same time, which was pretty convenient. The only thing I could see was their picture with a green halo around it to indicate them talking.

"That's a lot of work, and it's expensive." Kathy groaned. "We could go out and get iHop?" It was the recommendation that started the whole adventure.

I was craving something sweet; maple syrup sounded like it was going to be the best solution. We all agreed in unison.

"I'll send you my address," I told Willy, the one who could actually drive us there, and grabbed my phone to text him. "Text me when you get here."

So, we waited. He went to get Kathy and they came to come get me, which is where the first issue came to the surface.

"Where are you guys at?" I had already made it outside and was sitting in the rocks at the end of my driveway, whisper-yelling at my phone's microphone.

"We're over here at the elementary school," Willy said, "Are we too far?"

We had spent almost 10 minutes arguing about whether or not he was too far. He was too far, but they still believed they went too far past my house. It got very confusing trying to explain to him.

"What street are you on?" seemed to dumbfound the both of them. "Hively or Mishawaka?" Those were the only two streets that they could've been on

"I don't know!" Willy sounded frustrated after I tried to get him to describe where he was at, and it wasn't working too well.

He started to describe the different buildings around him, and I was walking around. The way he had described made me think he was at a certain place by my house, so I started running my way towards over there. When I got out of breath, I started walking over towards the building. The connection had cut out, and my phone began to buzz.

My mom was calling me.

"Hello?" I answered, trying not to sound like I was out of breath.

"Where are you?" She asked in a drowsy voice. She had obviously been somewhat asleep and had heard the door open, knowing she had gotten up to check if it was me.

"I'm out, why?" I had asked. A bit stupid to say, but she must've already knew anyways.

"Why are you not home? Get home, now." She was very affirmative about her words. I was trying to reason with her, but she wouldn't take anything and kept talking over me, so I called them back and started walking home.

"Bro, my mom just called me," I explained to them what she had said, "She's mad. I won't be able to. If you guys weren't stupid and could find my house we wouldn't have had this issue."

"It's not our fault," Willy sighed, "We can do it again."

I had returned home and my mom was not very happy, sitting in her recliner waiting for my return. We talked and argued a lot.

"I told you before I didn't want to take it. The first day I got out I didn't want to do it." I was trying to reason and explain, but she wouldn't listen.

"I don't care, you're going. Get to bed."

Defeated. I walked to my room and got back onto the call. "Completely busted," I sighed and got under my covers. My mom had walked back in and yelled,

"Get off your phone and go to bed, stop trying to argue."

A bit confusing considering I didn't argue with her for anything, I had just laid down and waited for her to be gone so I could continue talking.

"You guys wanna go later? Like in a couple hours?" We had suggested and considered it to be a good idea. Kathy and Willy were just playing basketball in the meantime and decided to go home. We all had been home and decided to make a new plan, we went at 6am. After we had decided that, we all went to sleep.

When the clock had struck 6am, I remember just faintly waking up to see if any of them were up too, only to find out Kathy was the only one that was up, Willy was fast asleep with the sound of his snoring coming through his microphone to seal the statement.

There was no need for me to be awake, unless I was going to be going to school. I had really thought about doing the course. There was nothing wrong with it, and I knew thinking back on this later would be entertaining. I just moved my phone back onto my nightstand and went back to bed.

The time soon rolled around to be about 10:30 am. We all ended up getting up and deciding what we wanted to do.

"So, are we down to still go?" I had asked, "I'm hungry and want some all you can eat pancakes." I guess the statement of having infinite pancakes had got them.

While we all got ready and Willy had picked me up, we were jamming out to music while driving to get Kathy and I had suggested an idea,

"We should bring Taury, do you think they would want to come also?" Willy didn't mind the idea, so when we picked Kathy up she called them, to find out they were with a friend and could only come if they brought them along.

"That's fine," he said and made a turn to go to Taury's house. When we got there, it was their friend Niko. We all knew them so it wasn't much of a problem. Now the 5 of us were riding in his car on the way to iHop.

When we got there, we had all ordered our food with the wonderfully charismatic waitress, telling us jokes and playing along with us. They didn't have the all-you-can-eat pancakes anymore, but I still didn't have to go to class, so it was all worth it.
