Breath in, breath out.

It's quite simple really yet I found myself having to be reminded to do the simple task.

"Morning Vi" I smiled while stepping in to her office

She looked up at me from her papers and smiled widely. She was like a star brightening up my darkness.

"Just the person I wanted to see"

"Missed me that much huh?" I joked while dropping in to the spare chair.

"Always" she chuckled

She then picked up a pile of papers and outstretched them towards me.

"You have to read this" she told me

I took the papers from her hand and peered my eyes down at the printed ink.

A sickening feeling consumed me as I read.

"What caused the explosion?" I questioned innocently

I couldn't look viola in the eyes as I handed her back the papers.

I had expected the incident to appear in the news, it was a big event after all. It wasn't casual for a car to explode and kill two men.

Act casual Callie

"That's what is so interesting" she began

I watched as she flicked through the extra pages that I didn't bother to read.

"Here"

It's me

"Shit" I accidentally murmured

"I know right, the cctv caught the woman handing over a bag but the weirdest part is that the cameras weren't working before or after meaning they didn't get her face"

My breath caught in my throat as I stared down at the dark picture of my back profile.

"I mean they're literal professionals if they know how to hack in to cctv cameras right?"

"Y-yeah" I stuttered "you're right"

I knew Achilles was down to this, he must've been the one to mess with the cameras.

"We're dealing with trained assassins here" she continued

Assassin ?

No, you're dealing with me

"Seems so huh"

I would've been done for if they'd seen my face. I should be currently rotting in a prison cell not sat here lying to my best friend.

"Oh I almost forgot!" She exclaimed

I moved my eyes to look at her. I felt so guilty for lying but I knew she'd be in danger if I was to spill the truth.

I didn't want any of this, I didn't want to be a murderer, I didn't want to be a criminal.

"Remember the two bodies that was found outside the night club? They're linked to the men that were killed in the car"

I could feel the world around me beginning to crumble.

"H-how?"

Act casual Callie

"Well that part I don't fully know but they've all been spotted together. I can only assume it's to do with dodgy business" she clarified

Dodgy fucking business indeed, also known as Achilles.

I found myself thinking back to the first time I had met him in the pharmacy. He was injured.

That was the day that the bodies was discovered.

Oh shit

"The same killer" I spoke aloud

"Definitely seems that way" viola agreed

Achilles

I could feel my head begin to spin as I pieced all the parts together. How had I not seen it sooner?

He's a full on monster.

A monster I couldn't escape.

"You want to help me write the article?"

Any other time I would have agreed. I love writing and I loved helping Viola.

If this wasn't my real life reality then the story would've intrigued me.

Now all I wanted to do was throw up.

I also knew I couldn't risk helping in case I slipped up and added something that I shouldn't know.

"Sorry, maybe later ? Derek already put his coffee orders in" I lied

"That douche"

"Tell me about it"

I offered her a smile once more before leaving her office.

I released a deep breath I forgot I was holding.

I'm not sure how much longer I can live like this.
