A Rainy Day

A Rainy Day - Oneshot

Notes: Hyō uses They/Them pronouns, Snow uses She/Her. Ren/Renny is the gender-non specific version of mom/mommy or dad/daddy. When Hyō refers to their "Tape", they are talking about TransTape, which is specifically made for binding in a safe way.

'This is thinking', "And this is talking".

Rain roared outside on the pavement, drowning out any sign of the sorrow in the house. The droplets sounded like bullets hitting the house's shingles, the tears of a person drowned out by the white noise. Tears stream down the blondes cheeks, their silver eyes gleaming with forming tears, completely separated from life, from their happiness, only their sorrows clouding their mind.

"Why... Why does life have to exist..." They whispered through their tears, choking on the words. A soft creature pushed against their back, causing them to flinch.

"Snow..?" They whispered, turning over to see a big, completely white mainecoon kitten watching them, blue eyes swirling with worry.

"I'm fine hun, you don't need to worry about me." They told her, wiping their eyes, their spotted tail wrapping around the kitten.

"But Renny... You're crying..." She whimpered to the leopard hybrid.

"I'm fine sweetheart, people were just being mean." They said, petting their (honorary) daughter's head. The kitten cuddled up to their chest, fluffy fur pushing up against the older's cheak.

"Renny Hyō, are you scared of the rain?" She asked, licking their neck.

"No, I actually find it quite comforting. What about you hun?" They responded looking down at Snow.

"I don't know, it's kind of scary..." She whispered, snuggling closer to their Ren, comforted by their warmth, not caring for the tears dripping on her fur.

"Well then, I guess I'll just have to protect you from the scary rain, won't I love?" They smiled, covering her fluffy ears jokingly.

"Thank you Renny." She smiled. "But, why do you smell like ouchy juice?" She tilted her head looking back at the hybrid.

"I- Well, people can be mean kiddo. I haven't cleaned up from work yet, which is why I smell like outchy juice." Hyō told Snow. "I'm going to go clean up now, because I don't want to smell like ouchy juice, ok hun?"

"Ok Renny, but can I cuddle with goat?" She asked Hyō as they sat up, while she layed.

"Yes, you can cuddle with goat. I will be back soon." They patted her head before getting up. Snow walked over to her goat plush, while Hyō walked towards the bathroom.

They closed the door before sighing, taking off the tank top they were wearing before. They inhaled sharply, the motion irritating the already agitated wounds on their chest. They paused for a second, getting their breath under control.

"Oh Snow, you're too innocent. I hope you stay innocent for as long as possible, my little gem." They sighed, a small smile flitting across their face before turning to the mirror. Multiple bruises, scratches, and gashes cover their torso, peeking out from the top of their sweatpants.

'Eesh, that's not good. Better than yesterday at least.' They turned away from the mirror, before undressing the rest of the way, only keeping on a necklace with a small quartz pendant hanging from it. They turned on the shower, letting the water warm up, putting their hand under it every 30 seconds or so to make sure the temperature was right. After it got to the temperature they wanted, they took a deep breath.

'I always hate this part. At Least my tape is still strong.' Hyō thought to themself. They stepped into the shower, pulling the curtain completely closed. They winced as the water flowed over their wounds, ears flicking at the water drops, before they put their head under the water, letting the warm water flow through their hair (and the fur on their ears and tail).

'Ahh, the flowing water feels so much better than the droplets.' They hummed to themself. After their hair was thoroughly soaked, they started to clean their wounds, wincing whenever they accidentally pushed too hard on an injury.

After they finished, they moved to their hair, washing it, as well as their ears and tail, before rinsing and conditioning them.

'I'm glad that I have a conditioner, feeling my fluffy soft hair will never get old.' They thought, finishing up their shower, and turning off the water. They stepped out of the shower, grabbing their black towel, drying themselves as much as possible while trying their best to not aggravate their freshly cleaned injuries more than the soap already had.

After they dried off, they reached into the lowest drawer in their under-the-sink storage and grabbed some bandages and gauze pads. They sighed, sitting down to the ground, and started wrapping their wounds, making sure it wasn't too tight, and didn't stick to the tape they already had on. They had made that mistake before, they didn't want to make it again.

After that, they stood up, grabbing some spare clothes they forgot they had left in the bathroom prior and put them on, careful to avoid tugging on their bandages. Once they were done, they walked out of the bathroom to see Snow shaking slightly, clutching onto her goat plush. Hyō smiled softly as they walked over to her.

"Hun? I'm done, do you want cuddles now?" They asked, crawling onto the bed to move closer to the kitten.

"Mhm... The rain is scary..." She whimpered softly. Hyō chuckled, laying down next to the kitten, pulling her close to them. They smiled down at her, as Snow looked up at them questioningly.

"I will protect you from the rain kiddo, it can't hurt you." They said, pulling the blanket over the two of them. Snow smiled, before adjusting her position to a more comfortable one.

"Good night Snow, sweet dreams kit."

"Good night Renny."

It's me, Okashi- This is a shit post that started as a school free write and ended up a one shot- This might be shitty because wrote it all in one go, stream of conscious style (even if I had like, 5 people read through it-), but I still like it. Btw, not including this and the original note, it is about 930 words long-
