"Hey Miss Chase, how are you this very fine morning?" Percy Jackson, golden boy of Half East High, had a weird obsession with the 'freak', Annabeth Chase. At least, that's what everyone else assumed it was: an obsession. In reality, however, Percy had the biggest crush on who he thought was the most beautiful girl in the world. 'Silently beautiful, and very deadly.' He always said. This morning, he was waiting in front of his locker just 3 down from hers, waiting for an opportunity to talk to her.

"Fine, Jackson. Thanks." Her clipped tone was more than enough to show that she didn't want to talk, and Percy just watched as she grabbed a couple books, shut her locker, and walked away. Grover, Percy's best friend, approached him from behind, shaking his head.

"When are you going to stop bothering the poor girl, Perce?" Percy turned to him with his signature lopsided grin.

"She answered this time, G-man!" Percy then proceeded to do a little happy dance in the middle of the hallway as other students rushed to their classes. Grover grabbed his shoulder and began dragging him towards their classroom.

"C'mon Perce, we gotta get to class."

The two ran to the other side of the hall, reaching their English classroom just as the late bell rang. All eyes turned to face the pair as they slammed open the door of the classroom. "Ah, Mr Jackson, Mr Underwood. Thank you for finally gracing us with your presence. Take a seat, please." The two boys muttered their apologies and took two seats at the back of the classroom, ignoring the stares that followed them.

Grover brought out his notebook and pens–like the good student he was, while Percy simply put his elbow on the desk and rested his head on his hand, daydreaming about blue foods and, of course, Annabeth Chase.

A year ago, a guy had asked Annabeth out, but she refused. The guy was, understandably, pissed off, and continued to pursue her. When she was fed up with his actions, the girl actually judo flipped him and walked away with a book in her hands as if it was nothing. Silent but deadly, right? Percy had had a crush on her since then.

Annabeth was beautiful too. Her blond princess curls bounced with every step she took, complementing her stormy-grey eyes and tanned skin. She'd always have a recreational reading book with her, and was top of every class she took. Percy wished he was in her classes, but, alas, he wasn't and the reception couldn't change any of his classes, yes, he'd asked. Unfortunately, Percy was pulled out of his daydreams all too soon.

"Mr Jackson!" Percy's head fell off his hand and his chin hit the table with a loud BANG! Grover tried to hide his laughter; this happened at least once every day. "How many times have I told you to pay attention in class?!" His English teacher was jaded with his attitude during class. She pinched the bridge of her nose in annoyance and let out a long, exasperated sigh. "Detention, Mr Jackson, for not paying attention in class." And with that, she strolled back to the front of the classroom to continue the lesson.

After school, Grover and Percy walked down the hall, Grover chastising Percy as he always did when Percy got detention. When they reached the door to the classroom however, Percy stopped, frozen still. "What is it?" Grover asked. Percy just stood next to the door, not daring to go in. The tips of his ears were turning red.

"Annabeth is in there," He whispered, then turned to look at Grover, wide-eyed. "Annabeth Chase is in there," Grover facepalmed.
"Why won't you just talk to her?" He asked. Percy stared at him like the answer was obvious.

"Cause I'm a coward with an inflated ego and abs," He stated, then sighed. "I have to go in, don't I?" Grover nodded. Percy steeled himself, his face taut with determination. "I'm going in,"

"Good luck, man," Grover slapped him on the back.

Percy entered the room.
