"Xiao can you believe we're Freshmen???" You say excitedly "It's way to early for you to be this excited." He says unamused.

This year is different you can feel it as you look at xiao you can see that he definitely changed.

Sure you were best friends but you weren't blind.

Xiao was definitely attractive but he just had a resting bitch face that scared everyone away which you didn't mind to much.

Xiao was a really good student he was just lazy but always got good marks. Xiao could say the same thing about you though.

He also thought you were really attractive but he usually pushed those thoughts aside.

"What class are you in?" you say nervously hoping you at least have some classes together.

Just showing you his schedule you sigh "We have 4 classes together, we just dont have PE or math together"

He just nods you know this is your signal Xiao doesnt really wanna talk so you just go to your first period with him enjoying comfortable silence.

Automatically sitting next to eachother you both sit in the middle xiao taking a window seat.

You just go on your phone and do random stuff until you feel xiao tap your shoulder and give you his ear plug. Happily taking it you listen to music until the teacher comes and gives you the boring run down of their class.

"You forgot to bring your lunch on the first day of school?" xiao grumbled "ehe" is all you had to say for yourself.

He rolls his eyes "Anyways lets go to the roof!!" You say making your way towards the stairs

"I don't think we're allowed up there." He says stopping "Who caaares? not me. Now lets go!"

"Hey! You're supposed to be in the cafeteria." a teacher yells across the hall.

Xiao looks mortified at being caught but you quickly grab his hand and start running you pass the stairs knowing theres some if you twist and turn long enough. "Hey! get back here" the teacher starts running after you both.

"y/n if we get caught I will kill you" Xiao shouts. "Well with that attitude we're gonna get caught now pick up the fuckin' pace!" you say running faster and making a sharp turn.

finally reaching the stairs again you run up them and stop to catch your breath at the third floor only for xiao to cover your mouth with his hand.

Only then you here foot steps coming closer to the stairs.

"oh! there you are mister!" a cheery voice intervenes "I have some questions involving your class! do you mind answering them?"

Getting tired of having Xiaos hand on your mouth you lick his hand causing him to flinch away wipping his hand on his shirt vigorously.

Covering your mouth trying not to burst out laughing you start going up the stairs to the roof beckoning Xiao to follow you.

Dying of laughter on the roof "omygod, Xiao that was so fun!" You say out of breath.

"We have completely different definitions of fun." He says looking at you. "So you didn't think it was fun?" You look at him dead in the eyes averting his gaze he clicks his tounge and says "No."

"AHA" you scream startling him "You DO think it was fun!" You say poking him in the ribs wiggling away from you he says "I did not say that, you should get your ears checked."

"Nuh uh you liar. You cant look at me in the eyes when you lie." you say looking at him
meeting eyes with you he says "Yes I can" averting his gaze mid sentence

"Ha! you just did it again you liar" you say triumphantly "Whatever just eat." he says shoving his food towards you.

"Not hungry. You should eat!" you say shoving his food towards him and laying down to look at the pretty blue sky.

He sighs and then you speak up again "Hey Xiao?" you question "hmm?"

"You gotta promise me... that we'll always be together. ok? like always" You say still looking at the sky raising a brow he just says "I've been here this long, I'm not going anywhere."

Sitting up abruptly startling the boy next to you then holding out your pinky. Only looking at your pinky then sighing

Holding out his pinky "pinky promise?"

"Pinky promise." He says intertwining pinkys.

~[ After school ]~

"Xiao should we get a job??" You ask "hell no" Is all he says "but why???" Is all you ask "That's to much work we should just focus on school and thats it"

"You have a point, worth a shot though. Now lets go to your place so I can eat almond tofu with you!" you say grabbing his hand to lead him out of the classroom

"Sounds good with me" is all he replies with you knew Xiao well enough so his lack of expression didn't really bother you cause you know he wants to, so you just say "onward peasant"

"I am no peasant, peasant" he says "That's what a peasant would say. " You laugh he just cracks a smile at your foolery.

You wished you could snap a picture of his smile cause of how rare it is. Staring at him until he seems to notice is when you zone back in and walk to his place.

"Is Mr. Zhongli home?" you finally speak up "Nah today is not his day off. " He answers "Aw I wanted to say hi." You sigh "Haha loser" is all he says.

"Your the only loser here!" You say pushing him then running off laughing cause you know hes gonna get you back.

"Get back here!" he yells "no" you yell picking up the pace backpack swishing at every tred.

finally making it there you yell "truce!!!" he stops "your lucky you caught me off gaurd" he mutters before opening the door to the house you know and love.

yeah highschool will definitely different you think to yourself i wont let it be like middle school or elementary
