quick authors note:

hi everyone! it's been a while, but I'm finally able to update. This story is a hot mess but I promised my past self that I'd finish this story before writing anything else. I hope I'm able to update next week, but I have an exam week coming up pretty soon and don't know for sure if I finished by then.

Anyway, please don't forget to comment and vote, I'd love some. interaction 'cause I'm ✨lonely✨

He slept peacefully next to me, hurdling all the blankets. He fell asleep instantly when I laid him on the bed.

From time to time I heard soft snores from the other side on the bed, reminding me that, yeah, I should've been asleep now too. But no matter how hard I tried to ignore it, every time I closed my eyes, flashed of a beat up Donghyuck would surge through my mind.

While he was cuddled up in his blanket burrito, not having a single care in the world, I was struggling to keep my eyes closed.

The boy went through so much, how he could still sleep so peacefully, I don't know.

Somewhere in the back of my head a voice was screaming, 'don't do it!', I could feel myself move towards him and wrap my arms around him, almost on autopilot. Though the harm was done, and Donghyuck was already beaten black and blue, I promised myself I wouldn't let anyone hurt him like this. Not anymore.

It was 10 PM when I awoke to Donghyuck trying to pry my arms of off him. Though you'd think the atmosphere would be really awkward, it was far from that. almost the opposite really.

Though there was a slight nervousness tingling through my body, it didn't feel out of place. neither of us mentioned the events happening the night before. He didn't start the conversation so I decided not to ask.

However, when I saw him struggling to out on some brown dress pants, I stopped him by placing a hand on his shoulder. "Where are you going?"

I could feel him freeze up, the action causing him pain, seeing as he winced. "Just, out. Just to lessons," He said, his eyes avoiding mine.

"Look at me, there's nothing interesting on the floor, Donghyuck."

He gulped, I could see his adam's apple bop. For a second I thought I scared him. Then his expression changed.

"What?" He snapped, with a hint of frustration. Focusing on him, I could see he was trying to hide his nerves. His thumbs were twirling around each other and his jaw was clenched.

"You know what, go ahead. Try to get into those trousers without falling. Go to class. But don't expect me to help you," Was the only thing I said before turning around and closing the bedroom door behind me.

Though we hadn't spoken about it, he knew damn well that I did not want him to go out like that. I did not stay up until 3 am patching up his hopefully healing wounds, so he could tear them all open again by walking. He fainted for God's sake.

As breakfast was long over, I decided to eat some of the chips I had taken with me from home. Honestly? I was angry. If he wants to go, fine. He can go, I thought. Only when I realised the bag was empty, I heard a loud thud coming from the next room.

It took all my willpower not to run into that room. It was his own fault. I tried warning him, but I only got a stanky eye in return.

I wouldn't help him. No way. That's what I said to myself. My body didn't agree. I already stood up from the couch and placed the chip bag in the rubbish bin, before I heard small wails out of the room.

I don't think I even have to tell you what I did afterwards. I sprinted towards him as fast as possible. Not me pulling a Lightning McQueen again.

When swinging the door open, it made contact with his head, making him curl up into a ball before hissing in pain and returning to his old position.

"Oh my God, I am so sorry."

"Shit, fuck, bitch, fuck," He said, gritting his teeth. He let out a shaky breath before softly saying, "You were right. It hurts, please." His jaw clenched again and his left hand went towards his right hip, as if he were to give himself a hug.

"Sh," I said, "Don't speak, it's okay." My hands went to his waist as I wanted to scoop him up, before slightly pausing. "Where does it hurt? Can I carry you on the bed? It's not that far away."

"My stomach, my head, everywhere." He tightly had his eyes shut close.

"Alright." I sighed and stood up, before being held back by a wincing Donghyuck grabbing my leg. "Please help. I'm sorry, please don't go okay?" He asked desperately.

"Don't worry, I'm going to quickly grab a blanket okay? I'll be right back.

Within seconds I got him wrapped in a blanket, head resting on my thigh. "Are you okay? Can I lift you up?" I tried again. I wanted him to sleep comfortably, not on the hard and cold ground.

"Yeah." So there I went, my left hand underneath both of his legs, and my right hand underneath his back. "Three, two, one."

After I laid him on the bed,i started the conversation again. "Donghyuck?"

"Hm?" His voice barely hearable beneath all the blankets I had wrapped him in.

"Promise me you're going to listen to me? Don't do this again." There was a silence before he slightly shifted in the sheets.

I sat on the bed, denting in the mattress, which had him slightly rolling over to my side. To my surprise, he tried lifting up his blankets, inviting me.

We ended up laying side my side, his head slightly resting on my shoulder. "You need to give yourself time to let your body heal itself, you know. Don't, uh, go to classes. Not tomorrow or the day after. I'll stay with you if you want, just- Promise me." it took almost a minute before he answered.

"Promise," He whispered.
