Kol and Madelyn had heard word of Jeremy becoming one of the hunters of the Brother of the Five, which gives him a tattoo that forms the map to Silas once he's killed enough vampires. They had also heard that Klaus turned several people to vampires to further along his progress. So the couple decided to do something about it.

Thanks to Madelyn's detective skills, they were able to find where these newly curated vampires with no daylight rings were hiding out. The two of them mercilessly killed each and every one of them, remembering their oath to each other from the night before.

When Jeremy and Damon arrived to kill the vampires they were greeted with their dead bodies in the storage room.

"Looks like we're gonna have to find some new vampires," Damon said. "What a waste."

"What the hell happened?" Jeremy said.

"I confess," Kol said, coming out into the open with Madelyn. "We did it."

"Kol?" Jeremy said.

"Jeremy, good to see you, mate," Kol greeted. "Sorry about the mess. It was a little crowded when we arrived, and I prefer more intimate gatherings. We four need to have a little chat."

"What are you waiting for, Gilbert?" Damon said. "Shoot!"

"I can't kill him," Jeremy said.

"But you can kill her," Damon said, gesturing to Madelyn dramatically.

"You can try." Madelyn smirked. "But I don't think baby hunter here is quick enough to kill a 700-year-old vampire just yet."

"Fine. Let's just cut to it," Damon said.

"You know, my brother bragged about his plan to complete Jeremy's hunter's mark," Kol said. "It was easy enough to track this lot down thanks to Madelyn. They were all hiding in the shadows. Now killing young vampires is easy or even slightly older ones for that matter."

"Why? What's it to you either way?" Damon asked.

"Because, what you don't realize in your lust after the cure, you risk waking someone very dangerous," Madelyn said.

"Oh. You must be talking about Silas," Damon said.

"What do you know of him?" Kol asked.

"Nothing. Don't want to. Not our problem."

"It will be your problem when he's roaming around your town," Madelyn sneered.

"A few hundred years back, we came across a group that worshipped Silas," Kol told them. "His followers told me that he would rise again, and when he did, he would trigger the end of all time. You know, being an immortal, you can see why I'm opposed to time's ending."

"So, what did you do?" Jeremy asked.

"Well, murdered them all, of course," Madelyn said, smiling at the boy. "But here you are willing to risk raising him in your search for the cure. Now, we can't exactly sit back and let that happen, can we?"

"We're not gonna back off the cure because you were told one too many scary bedtime stories, you idiots," Damon said.

Kol pushed Damon back, causing Jeremy to raise his crossbow and aim it at Madelyn.

"Jeremy, we were mates back in Colorado," Kol said. "You're a smart lad. Why don't you call off this imbecilic treasure hunt?"

"I'm not calling anything off, mate," Jeremy said.

"Well, I could kill you," Kol suggested, "but then I'd have to deal with the hunter's curse, and I- I don't particularly feel like being haunted for the next century."
