It was at the beginning of April when the volcano erupted , but before it happened I was in a zoom meeting with my classmates rehearsing a play then suddenly the power went out . I assumed that it was just a usual power outage so I waited . Time passed and it was already an hour since power went out. I was confused and frustrated because I wasted time doing nothing but waiting . So I started the dishes and made food . My parents went out for clothes to make masks so i was inside my home alone . Since I turned sixteen and my parents trusted me to not make the police come here so I never went outside for any reason only for emergencies .
With nothing else to do i went to take a nap n hour passed and my parents haven't come home yet . I didn't have time to call because i was playing on my phone in technology class and it died
I couldn't wait any longer so I went outside I noticed something strange the powerlines weren't there i claimed on top of the ruff to see that the pole fell on a tree blocking the only entrance to my home since we lived far away from town . They called someone to remove the tree but since it had traffic they would be running late . They then switched the topic and said take some documents under their bed and run as far away from the house as possible but before I could ask why the phone cut off . I started running and then I heard a loud eruption coming from the far mountains. Confusions turned into fear and my feet started running at rapid speed. I was scared for my life . The only thing that was on my mind was to run as far away as possible . Then slipped and fell from the hillside and sprained my ankle in the process . The pain I felt by stopping for a second felt like a million spares going in my heart . I then tore a piece of cloth and wrapped it around my arm . For a moment I smelled smoke and I looked up in the sky and saw La Soufriere pouring with lava at rapid speed . I then thought that if I stayed at the house I would have never been able to outrun the lava . I then noticed that the atmosphere was getting hotter and hotter by the second then the second time I felt fear coursing through my body and tried to run but my ankle was sprained . So I started lipping hoping that I would find a miracle to save me . Then I came to a cliff. I found an old desktop and slid myself to the bottom of the hill then limped to the roadside where I saw the horrific site of my fathers car burning from the lava .
I was trapped , seeing no way out I climbed the tallest tree and observed my surroundings . Fire was the only light bleeding in with the sun set . Then suddenly a helicopter flew by . Then a light of hope lit a fire under me . I screamed at the top of my voice until they heard me screaming my lungs out like a maniac . They threw down a ladder and I climbed bearing the pain of my injured ankle . I then reached the top of the helicopter and collapsed from exhaustion. I then woke up in a room and then they pain hit me in the face right then and there . Looking all around I saw nurses and doctors running from left to right. It was a battlefield , patience's dying, people crying . But within that chaos I called my parents . They came running in and hugged me so tight I thought I was going to die . They explained that we were in a hospital far away from the lava and we will soon have to leave the island but we will be staying with our aunt until they find jobs . I should be happy that I was alive since I almost died but I wasn't , I took my classes for granted which wasn't I wasn't able to call back my parents and then worrying them . I then burst down in tires apologizing over and over until my mother said that it was fine and then they both hugged me and then I calmed down . The next day we went on a plane and flew to America and thanked god for spearing our lives during the pandemic and the eruption of La Soufriere.
