2 years.

2 years since they drifted apart.

Of course, these things happen. Not everything lasts forever.

And yet, they thought they would.

It started when Quick Draw's sidekick Baba Louie discovered he was a woman, and wanted to be called Bobbie Louie from now on. The first person they came out to was Quick Draw, who immediately accepted them, donning them the name "Baba Louise". Bobbie Louie giggled at that name.

About a year later, Quick Draw decided that the west had won, and it's time to hang his cowboy hat. He feels like no one ever takes him seriously whenever he's the fastest gun in the west. Yet, everyone adored him when he was the masked hero El Kabong. So from this day forward, he will always be El Kabong.

The two then made their way to the town of Jellystone. The town didn't have a teacher when they arrived so El Kabong decided to take the job. He needed money for his friend's gender reassurement surgery after all. El Kabong worked hard to get the funds needed and by Christmas, Bobbie Louie had fully transitioned.

But then that's when the drifting apart began. The two still lived in the same apartment, but they rarely talked to each other. It was either a "good morning", "I'll see you later" and "I'm home". They did have small talk every now and then but it never went anywhere.

El Kabong eventually did find his own place, which drove them apart even more. Bobbie Louie became a successful business woman, Her name was plastered over billboards and she was the best at what she does. El Kabong was proud of her.

He just wishes it didn't have to end like this.

He decided to call her. No answer. He called again. Still no answer.

Guess it ends like this.

Suddenly, the door in El Kabong's room knocks. He opens it.

It's her.

He lets her inside and the two sit down. It's complete silence until they both speak at the same time.

"What happened to us?"

"It's been 2 years hasn't it?" El Kabong said.

"I was shocked too," Bobbie Louie said. "It was so sudden. This isn't my fault is it? Me wanting to be-"

"It's not your fault," El Kabong said. "I knew we were due for a roadblock in our friendship at some point. But you wanted to be you, and I didn't want to get in your way"

"I felt the same way too," Bobbie Louie said.

Then it was silent again.

"I miss those days. Back when we used to talk long into the night. And you would stop me from doing something dumb" El Kabong said.

"But you did it anyway, Queeks Straw" Bobbie Louie said. They both laugh. Then El Kabong stopped suddenly.

"I wanna give us another shot," El Kabong said, holding out his hand. Bobbie Louie took it.

"Me too..." Bobbie Louie said. Then they suddenly pull each other into a hug. This felt nice after 2 years.

"The town festival is this week." Bobbie Louie said. "I don't really have anyone to go with, do you think-"

"I would love to," El Kabongs said suddenly.

And so it was a date...kinda. At the town festival, Bobbie Louie and El Kabong will be able to spend time together and mend their broken friendship.

It's just a shame that day never came.
