PSS. I really don't know what else to say...

When two year old Samantha Finch was signed into Sadie Orphan Home, it was all fine. Well, as fine as it could be. Both the young toddler's parents had died and she had no living relatives, not to mention she was old enough to remember the event. Still, it was normal.

Growing up, the little girl went by Sam. "It's what my parents would call me," She'd explained to the caretakers. That was, in itself, fair. The young brunette had a standard life there. She had several friends, watched as others would get adopted, wishing the same upon herself... it was fine. It wasn't like she was the problem anyway, most adoption adults were looking for someone a little different. That was, like everything else, fine.

To be straight with you all, she could have had an average life. She was smart, she could probably snatch a good future with a little work. Fine job, affordable house in the nice neighborhood, pets, maybe a family if she felt like it... Still, that chance was something she let slip. Really, it's funny what becomes relevant a decade or two later.

For instance: When Sam was six, a baby all of one years was checked in. Samantha, considering the boy's name, instantly took it upon herself to help take care of the "Newbie", or that's what the old kids would call the new ones.

You see, this young boy's name was Samuel. Samuel Young. Samantha, Samuel... you can probably see where this is going. Samuel ended up being Sammy.

Growing up for Sammy was just as average and mundane. Of course, like his older friend, he grew up without parents, but it wasn't as if he was heading to a secret wizarding school any time soon.

Still, Sam was there. From day one, Sam was there. The little boy, he really looked up to the older girl. It got to the point he began to call himself Sammy Finch. The girl in question, though she was much older with many more responsibilities, was always there for the little boy she deemed herself responsible for. For no reason. It was cute though.

Now, this whole thing seems totally irrelevant, right? Like, there couldn't be a less relevant move for a seven year old girl to make. This probably happens plenty! But, if it isn't obvious, I am telling a story here. A story I wouldn't be telling if nothing exciting came from this.

Let me explain now, because here's where things begin to get a little more complicated. You see, June 3rd, 2014 is the day everything in these young children's lives will change forever. Though, only one will know the long term effects for many years.

Several day prior, Sammy had an adoption interview. It was a pretty normal event, pretty average as well. A married couple, unable to have children for whatever reason, looking to adopt a young boy around Sammy's age, five. Sam read in the preteen girl's room while the younger boy went in and came out in all of twenty minutes.

Everything was fine.

Until it wasn't.

One of the main caretakers, a short man was a fuzzy beard, burst out into the yard where the Sams were hanging out. As he ran over to them, he called, "Sammy! I have exciting news!"

The two looked up. "What is it Mr. uhh..." Sammy replied, forgetting the older man's name.

"Johnson," Sam whispered.

"Johnson!"

Holding back a sigh, Mr. Johnson held out some official looking papers. "Remember that interview a couple days ago? With the Yorks?"
