pov : youre in love with saebyeok

chapter 5

                                                               dalgona

"hey, i smelled a bunch of sugar in the cafeteria. i doubt they would give us any sugar. maybe the next game has something to do with it." player 067 said to me.

"hm, maybe. you're smart though. if i smelled the sugar i wouldn't have even thought about that haha." i replied

"ha, thanks" player 067 replied smirking. 

"I will now explain the rules of the next game. All players, please take one case from the table at the front of your line."

'there were a bunch of different shapes on the cases, umbrella, square, triangle... the shapes were similar to the ones on the dalgona cookies i used to have when i was a kid. since the last game was a children's game, maybe this one is too.' i thought in my head

with that, i chose the case with the easiest shape to carve out, predicting we would be doing something with dalgona.

"the time limit is 10 minutes. you will pass if you trim out the shape without breaking or cracking within the time limit. with that, let the game begin."

i personally was good at this game when i was a child, but it did break sometimes so i wasnt super confident i would be able to do this. 

i slowly started to carve out the triangle, i almost finished half of one side. "so far, so good"

"player 111, pass"

"wow, that was fast. but, i wont risk it; better safe than sorry."

i finished 2 1/2 sides of the triangle. i quickly traced the other half.

a bunch of gunshots were fired. i hope player 067 didn't get shot.

"player 221 , pass"

"player 067, pass"

a bunch of weight left my chest.

"huh, they called our names right after each other, meant to be?" player 067 asked me.

"ha, maybe" i was nervous but tried to play it cool.

gunshots fired. the PA announced more people passing. soon enough, time ended. 

"attention players, i will now announce the results of the second game. out of 187 players participating, 79 players were eliminated."

people gasped in the background.

i thought that it was a mediocre number, which it really shouldn't be, but compared to the deaths in red light green light, it was not as much. 

"the prize money accumulated this round is 7.9 billion won. the total prize money accumulated so far is 34.8 billion won."

i let that sink in for a moment. 34.8 billion won. that is a whole lot of money...

i walked towards player 067. "hey, i heard your number being called"

"mhm, me too" 067 replied.

"anyways, what IS your real name, it is kinda weird calling you player 067 all the time"

"oh, uh yea. my name is saebyeok. kang saebyeok.

"pretty name:)" i replied

"what is yours" sae asked.

"y/n"

"pretty name"

"thanks, wanna go get some food ?"

"food, oh sure."

i noticed saebyeok's eyes on me the whole time we walked to the cafeteria. did she like me the way i liked her, or is she just looking at me for no reason. i don't wanna look back at her. that would be weird. ugh. this is so hard..

"someone died." saebyeok told me. 

someone told the guards about it.

"that bitch, they killed him." i said.

"hey, i will take care of you. i wont let this happen to you." saebyeok said to me.

"oh, thanks. same here" i replied. 

"we can't kill people this way.."

the men in the red suits walked in carrying a coffin. 

"player 271, eliminated"

"why do they have to say that, can't they eliminate the guy who killed the other guy. why don't they care more." i said.

" i dont know what these bitches are up to, but we just have to live with it, but i'm here for you if you need anything ok ?" saebyeok said to me.

she comforted me. i hope i could do the same to her, when she felt like this too.

456 came up to saebyeok.

"hey, can i talk to you in private"

"uhm okay.. hey, y/n stay away for a minute. i'll talk to you later"

i was worried. hopefully, that guy wasn't gonna do anything to her. but as she said, i left and went to my bed.
