He wasn't wrong. Cole decided at that very moment that no one could know about what he'd just been through – not even Aron. Quickly making his way out of the Storage unit, broom handle in hand, Cole put it on the floorboards within the backseat of Aron's truck.
With another swift motion, Cole bounded back into the Storage Unit and lugged the Space Heater into the bed of Aron's truck as said-other teen finally returned.
"Moto says there's a nasty storm Forecast for the next few days." Cole nodded as Aron began to look around for the other heaters with him. "You doing okay Cole?"
"Yeah, yeah I'm fine." He didn't feel fine – physically he was okay, but mentally, his head was swimming.
Aron looked at his friend with slight concern, but nodded as the two grabbed the final Space Heater together.
Before they took off, the two teens tossed a tarp over the bed of the truck, as the snow was starting to come down harder.
"Alright, I'm starvin' – how about you Cole?" As Aron started his truck, he turned to Cole, who was looking more distant by the minute. "Cole, Earth to Cole. You in there buddy?"
"Wha – Yeah, I'm fine. Sorry just – hooo, tired." His lie didn't convince his friend, though.
"Cole." Switching his truck into park, Aron turned to face his life-long friend, "Something's bothering you. Did something happen while I was talking with Moto?"
Cole let out a long sigh. He didn't like lying... but he didn't want to say what just happened. "Aron... just got some family stuff going on."
"Oh, alright. I won't push you then." His friend seemed satisfied, and Cole let out an internal sigh of reliefe. "Think some breakfast will get you back in a good mood?"
"Definitely."
The drive to Kasandra's Café had been slow – Aron had taken it slow, as the snow was coming down harder, the time barely crawling to 10 A.M as they quickly made their way into the Café.
"Well, look who the storm brought in." The two teens looked towards the barren Dining Room. Standing there was one of their other friends, Kasandra.
She stood a little taller than the two, and had a head full of long, gorgeous red hair and killer green eyes. She had a fine body to match that, and was clothed in waitress attire.
"Your darn right – we were practically smacked by the door on our way in." Aron took a seat at a window booth and Cole sat opposite him, trying to shake off what had happened earlier.
"What can I do for the both of you?" Kasandra already had her Note Pad ready to go, as Aron and Cole were regulars.
"My usual – instead of Coffee this time, let's go with some Apple Juice." Kasandra rolled her eyes but nodded in a friendly manner as Aron placed his order.
"And what about you, Cole?" He didn't notice, but he'd been staring off into space.
"Umm... I don't know?" He mentally slapped himself.
"Kass, he's going through some stuff right now, just get him his regular." Aron spoke for the raven-haired teen.
"You got it. I'll get your drinks to you in a bit – got some crappy customers I've been dealing with." She said that last part quietly as she went to the kitchen to hang the boys' ticket.
