THESE ARE NOT CANON, DON'T COME FOR ME!
I've known Charlie for most of my life, we've been best friends since we were little.
Over the years I'd never really seen Charlie with anyone, he never had a girlfriend or a boyfriend during our time at Hogwarts, he only ever focused on studying. I just always figured he wasn't attracted to anyone at school, which was only partly true.
Charlie is Demisexual, this means that he's only sexually attracted to people he has a close personal bond with, he has to have that close bond to feel sexually attracted to someone, and while this may sound weird to some people, it made complete sense to me when Charlie came out to me in our 7th year at Hogwarts. While he has a sex drive, it's not nearly as high as some people from what he explained when I'd asked him what it meant.
When we both went to Romania to live on the Dragon Reservation right out of Hogwarts he seemed happy. We both lived in the same house, though we had different bedrooms at the time, we were both happy with our work, we had dinner together every night, had Muggle movie nights once a week, laughed, cuddled, everything seemed to be the same as it always had been.
Then, when he started pulling away from me and isolating himself from everyone around him completely, I started getting worried. It was around the time that he missed movie night for the 3rd week in a row that I felt the need to say something, if he was going through a hard time I wanted him to know he had someone to talk to about whatever it was that was going on.
When he came home that night, I asked him to sit down with me, I wanted to try and be as supportive of a friend as I possibly could be, but when he sat down on the couch, he sat as far away from me as humanly possible, avoiding eye contact altogether.
"Charlie, is something wrong? You know you can talk to me right? You've been being really distant lately and I'm starting to get worried, this isn't like you. Is everything ok?" I asked
I was worried that maybe something happened to one of his siblings, he absolutely adores them and he'd do anything for them, he worries about his family more than he lets on.
"No, nothing's wrong. I just don't want to ruin everything we've been worked so hard for." He replied, the last sentence came out as more of a barely audible whisper.
His comment confused me, how could he possibly ruin what we'd worked for? The only thing we'd been worked towards was to give the dragons a decent life, the sanctuary is meant to protect and study the dragons in our care, there was virtually nothing he could do or say that I could think of that could ruin what we were doing at the sanctuary.
Now I want to say this one thing before I continue telling you what happened that night, Charlie is a VERY attractive man! He could have literally anyone he wants just by asking, but given his orientation it's never really come up..... this being able to have anyone he wants includes me.
