Today, my school had a fire drill & it made me start to think. Fire drills always scare the shit out of me. But not my schools.
Because
1- my principal just stands there whilst we are shuffling out of the building holding a DAMN WATCH! He's timing us to see how long it takes us to get out of the building. He complains we don't 'get out of the building' fast enough. But lemme just say, if you want me to run for my life, don't stand there holding a stopwatch! Or get a smoke machine at the top of the building, then it'll look like there's a real fire! That would scare me. Or y'know get someone to grab my phone & get them to run outside. I'll chase them wherever they go as long as I get my phone bag cuz I swear I ain't leaving the building until I got my phone. Speaking of phones, whenever I hear the fire alarm go off (our is loud & annoying hbu) my first instinct is to grab my phone & go! My teachers usually get mad at me when I grab my phone, but when they hear the fire alarm, oh my god they have to grab their coats and zip up the zippers & button the buttons, they grab everything! It's like, um teacher, we aren't going to Antartica for a month! May as well grab five books to read, your laptop, oh and the damn bookshelf!
Oh but don't forget, I live in Canada so our fire drills in winter are hell! The teachers are standing there in their coats, mittens, hats, & scarves. When we are here freezing our asses off in t-shirts and leggings! If we're lucky, they have them on the day I'm wearing a sweater or hoodie (pretty much everyday)
Oh, & one time we had a winter fire drill (this was this year) and we were in the middle of gym! So we went out, in the snow in our running shoes, shorts & t-shirts, shivering!
