Chapter 14: Finding Faith

On the sidewalks of Sofia Street, Venator our valiant hunter lies prone on the ground. He regains his consciousness and finds that his quarry has completely disappeared. He can hear a buzzing sound. A mechanical orb, with a camera at its front end hovers in front of him.

"Search the area, he could not have gotten far.", he seemingly orders the machine.

The drone hastily flies out into the distance. Now that that's settled Venator can stand back on his feet. 

"How long was I out?", he asks himself.

"How long? about fifteen minutes."

Who said that? Walking around the corner is a man wearing a Terror uniform just like him. He has an eyepatch on his right eye, but that's not the only thing he wears on his face, he also wears a smug look, smiling from ear to ear.

"Orion, you're not supposed to be here."

"You're too cold Venator, that's no way to talk to your former partner, isn't it?"

"If you don't leave me alone, I'll add your portrait to the painted mountains."

"Now you're threatening me? You're breaking my heart."

"Orion be serious, you know that Terror cannot protect you from the church's persecution while you're in the Outer Rim."

"Venator are you saying if the church captures me you won't come to my rescue?", he clasps his hands and holds them against his chest, he's posing like a damsel in distress.

"I don't have time for this."

"Why, you gonna get beat up by another kid?"

"Were you here the whole time?"

"No, but I tapped into your surveillance drone.", he leans up against a wall, he knows what he did is wrong and doesn't care.

"You did what?"

"Yeah, it was hilarious. I've never seen a kid get the drop on you like that."

"You can't tap into my drone; the higher-ups will have your head for this."

"Maybe? But not before they get yours.", he points behind Venator.

Venator turns on his heels. The drone has returned. Already? There's no way it found the child so quickly, so why did it return? Is it broken? It doesn't give us much time to hold that thought. The central camera on the drone's body begins to emit light, an image is formed from the beams of the light. It's a holographic projection. It seems that Terror's higher-ups have contacted him through hijacking the drone. At this moment Orion takes his leave. He does not want to face their wrath like how Venator is about to. 

"Venator, have you arrived at the orphanage yet?"

"Yes."

"Then why have I not received a report of the child being in your custody?"

"I'm sorry, I have failed in securing the target."

"Why? Your incompetence baffles me."

"He just left; he could not have gotten far."

"Fine, you have one more chance to capture him. Otherwise, we will be making preparations to terminate him. Don't fail me, again.", the transmission ends.

Venator is now overwhelmed by rage. He walked towards the drone, the drone tried to escape, bless its heart. He grabs the drone and smashes it into a wall. Then kicks it on the ground until it stops moving. Newt made his hunter very upset, now let's see if he can handle the consequences.
