“Ella, are you okay?” Fortuna mumbled from her bed. I forgot how well she could read emotions. “Oh I’m fine really! Just a nightmare.” I assured her. “Okaaay.” She said unconvinced.
We all got up and ready for another day of travelling. The only thing new was the fact we had to walk. There wasn’t enough room on Compromise and Bravery for Fortuna, but I didn’t mind walking. It always gave me time to think.
We walked through the forest where I met Fortuna. I found out that it was called Magic Forest, what an interesting name. Fortuna and I enjoyed the simplicity of the forest, but everyone else thought it was boring.
“Berrova is much more interesting than this! It’s all nice and lively.” Aden grumbled. “My forest is a lot quainter than this one.” Glory whispered. “This is so boring! In Death Desert I had to fight to survive!” Adil complained.
Fortuna looked really angry. She was trying so hard not to scream out of frustration. “It’s ok Fortuna. I think this place is beautiful. I love it more than any of their places.” I whispered.
Fortuna smiled at me, “Thanks. I grew up here, I hate it when somebody says something terrible about this place.” “It’s beautiful. I’m glad we can get to Lovila by walking through here.” Fortuna nodded.
We didn’t say anything to each other for a while, but it wasn’t a bad thing. It was much more peaceful that why. It was good to just feel the light wind blowing over my face and rustling the trees. I tried to make my steps as silent as possible, but with Aden and Adil stomping on every twig, I had no idea why I was trying.
“Guys! Stop making so much noise!” I whisper yelled at them, I was starting to get very frustrated. “Oh? You have a rebel side do you? I like that.” Adil smiled deviously as well as walked quieter. “Sh- Shut up!” I huffed and walked a little slower to put more distance between us.
I hate him! He thinks he’s so cool! But I sort of liked how he said he like me. No! No, I can’t let opposites attract.
Fortuna seeing me all worked up put her hand on my shoulder, “It’s alright Ella. It’s alright.” I smiled at her. I felt like she was my best friend even though I’ve only known her for a day. I’ve known Glory longer, and she really was nice, but Fortuna and I both have our secrets, and that makes us understand each other more.
